Your only grades in this class are based on the 6 tests you take. He is a terrible lecturer. He does not post lecture powerpoint online for the chapters to be tested on until the class before the tests. He does not explain things well in lecture or answer questions asked to him. He does not give you enough time to write slides down.

6 exams so you have many time and chances to study hard and understand the material, comprehensive final, I think it's the best syllabus in the ACC department!

Comment:
Would not take again. Lectures and given materials too confusing. Gives two PwrPts for each txtbk chptr. Demeans the textbook, as with much of the book's theories. Tells us to go by his notes & PwrPts; but in the end, it seems the exam Qs are from the book. Terrible feedback. Participation does not really matter. 3 tests, 2 big acct projects.

Comment:
Unfortunately, Sproghe is the only one who teaches 3230.VERY frustrating. Unprepared, only uses powerpoints (which are often full of mistakes), flies through them, says not to write anything down, will rarely do examples, struggles to answer questions, hard to know what to expect for tests, and often says that he thinks accounting is a joke

I have only had him for a little while, and he is already the worst professor I have ever had. I have never failed a test in my life till this class. ONLY reads off powerpoints during class, and his powerpoints don't even help for the tests. AVOID HIM

I'm a good student, I have a 3.45 GPA and this is the ONLY class I have ever failed. I went to class, did the homework problems, did review questions at the end of chapters - ALL OF IT! I felt like I actually learned a ton, it would have just been nice if what was covered/on the syllabus was actually on the exams.

One of the worst professors by which I mean he is just horrible at teaching. He complicates the subject. No one ever showed up to class because class was pointless. Read the book, it's far more beneficial than Sproghe will ever be.

He's a nice guy but as teachers go, he's definitely not my favorite. During class Sproghe read straight from the powerpoints and often had no idea what was on them. The test questions were nothing like what we did in class and he made mistakes on numerous test questions throughout the quarter. Avoid if possible!

Tests are really hard, but curved accordingly. Just reads from slides during class. Sometimes goes off on personal tangents about his opinions, but acknowledges they are soap box rants. Helpful one on one once he figures out what you want

Boring. Unprepared. Not helpful. Reads slides. Stumbles over his words a lot and has to backtrack in order to correct misinformation that he gave. Avoid this class and this professor if possible.

Comment:
The tests were hard, but they were curved generously. Make sure to study the PowerPoints. Also, make sure to take this class in the summer because there is no comprehensive final exam. Dr. Sproghe is fine except that his lectures are boring. Also, he would confuse himself sometimes when going through examples. He seemed like a nice guy though.

Comment:
Just read the powerpoints and do and memorize the homework problems because some of the test questions are exactly the same with different numbers. This should get you through. He gives out some test questions so that would be the only reason to go to class. He is always late and unprepared plus the material is BORING. Good luck on staying awake.
