Lots of movies, easy to fall asleep because it was a 9am and he turns all the lights off. Really unnecessary to go to lecture, he uploads everything (including the movies) online. Didn't like that he would cut off everyone from talking. If you're a good writer and have an opinion about anything you'll do well. All tests are short answers.

Felt more like a religious class which wasn't helpful since I'm not that religious. Hates technology and makes you sit in the front rows if you want to use them for notes. Wants the whole class to participate and has a tendency to cut people off. Lecture is films and discussions about the films or books you have to read.

legit skipped all classes, your grade depends on TA, if you got a good TA, easiest class all you do is watch movies, skim a couple books, and write for 2 midterms and 1 final just write something that aligns with what the TA wants to hear and youll get decent score (TA said average for scores are B's, but you can get an A)

Lecture is a form of a big discussion. 2 midterms, 1 final. Not a bad class just need to make sure you understand the overall topics discussed in class.

Easy class, but you won't learn anything worthwhile. It's more religion than philosophy.

Wasn't a difficult class. Only 2 midterms and 1 final. The midterms and finals are in essay form but there is no min or max on how much you have to write just as long as you answer the question. Lecture is like a bigger version of discussion. Doesn't use slide just talks and expects studetns to participate by asking questions or giving comments.

Watch the movies and read the books and you will be fine. Its philosophy so if you sound like you know what you are talking about then you get an easy A.

Only the movies were actually interesting and valuable. He is obsessed with religion and only wants to talk about that so if you aren't well versed in any religion your comments won' be really received. Extra credit was offered twice but the TAs would get super bitter if you asked them about it

The class name is pretty deceiving, but the class in the end wasnt too bad. We watched a couple films and wrote essays about them.

Great and funny professor! He likes to lecture about topics he finds interesting and relate them to the book and the films. Not a "normal" course, as there is not one powerpoint and it, discussions and lecture, is mostly based on discussion.

Okayish but easily the most boring class I've ever taken in my life. Lectures are a bigger version of discussion. The movies & books are more interesting than his lectures. Your grade's based on 2 midterms & final. Professor's really picky on students using their laptops, phones, etc when he's lecturing.

Very easy, but don't be fooled by the course title, the class isn't as cool as it sounds. Touches on more grounded subjects like morals and religion. Lectures aren't mandatory, and neither are discussions if it weren't for the attendance grades. The professor has a tendency to cut off his students mid-sentence.

We watched some movies and read some books, some of which didn't really deal with evil. He is very strict with people having technology out, and will make you sit in the first row if you want your laptop. I didn't read, but just listened to him in lecture and did well. It's an easy A, but so boring, I would not recommended.

did not like this class AT ALL. Hes a crank about cell phones. he will literally call you out. No powerpoints, you just sit there listen and discuss. I found most the the discussion pretty pointless if youre just looking to get info for the exams. exams are really easy if you do go to the lectures he talks about the material.

Loved, loved, LOVED this class! Probably my most favorite class that I've taken during my years at UCR. Take this professor! He's the sweetest little grandpa ever :') Lecture isn't mandatory, but you should go. No powerpoints; nothing. Based on discussions with the class but it's interesting that you don't always hear just the professor speaking!

Professor Wettstein is a really nice professor and makes lecture interesting. It isn't always mandatory but you should go anyway. Midterms are free response so make sure know the material. EASY CLASS, if you don't pass you don't belong at a UC

This class is easy if you know what your TA is expecting(they're the ones that grade your stuff). No book required for the class, but you will read a few articles. This class does not take much effort to pass.

Great professor, easy class. The TAs do all the grading, but if you speak during lecture, you get bonus points because the professor and TAs will recognize your efforts. He wanted to get to know his students and used religion to introduce important philosophical concepts. He's an educated guy, and the class is best if you're willing to participate.

This class is very easy and was very interesting. All you have to do is attend lecture and pay attention. Professor Wettstein doesn't do any of the grading so make sure you know what your TA expects also.
