Comment:

Webb is a well-balanced professor. He knows his stuff, teaches well, can be funny, & understands his students. Assigns a lot of readings, but it's expected. Only 3 papers and participation make up your whole grade so be careful. Some say he's a hard grader but I didn't think so. He's always there if you need help, too. Just read and you'll be fine.

Not sure why he has such bad ratings. The class is pretty easy and he's really relaxed in class. Choose good literature and it's easy to participate. Only thing is that he doesn't give a lot of feedback, and his essays aren't on stuff we read in class so you have to do your own analysis, but if you listen in class you'll know how.

At the end of the semester he changed the syllabus and we now have four papers due before the semester is over. That's one paper every week or week and a half. And he says he's doing it to help us improve our writing. I don't know how it's possible to improve my writing when I only have a week to write something. We argued but he doesn't care.

Sweet guy, decent professor. He asked a lot of confusing questions that no one really understood the answer to, but he's very patient and rewords the question if you ask. Also kind of slee He grades a little hard, I never got higher than B on a paper. But I did well in the class, and there are worse professors out there.

He is a nice guy but classes are reallyy boring despite the "jokes" he tries to make. He asks questions and expects only specific answers. In order to do well you have to use his ideas (don't bother coming up with your own). He grades your essays in front of you in individual meetings, and generally you get grades that are lower than you expected.

He's a decent guy, but not a good teacher. Only wants to hear himself and only likes his own opinion. He tears apart anything any student says and is very close-minded. Gives everyone a B, which is good if you don't work hard but it's really annoying if you do work hard.

Comment:

Had him for English novel in the 19th century. Tiny class, about 8 of us. Personable and nice but kind of rambles and digresses. Loves to read out loud. Grades your papers in front of you.

He's a nice guy, but classes with him are painful. Boring and non-substantial. Grading is also confusing because he never really explains his papers enough so you end up writing a bunch of crap and then he can grade that any way he wants.

A good person, but not a good professor. He really does digress and half the time I want to fall asleep in class. For the final paper, we had to read another book, on top of the book we were currently reading for class, so two books at once. He always expects you to finish the book the first day you discuss it.

You don't absorb anything in his class because he's beyond boring and he rambles on and on. He gives subjective paper topics and rips you apart when it's not what he wants to hear. On the upside, he doesn't give lower than a B on them. If you wanna avoid a major headache and an arrogant jerk, then avoid him.

I can't say I learned much in this class... we are always very much behind the other sections in terms of what we know about the material. That being said, his tests aren't as difficult and you have plenty of time to write the papers. Write about HIS opinions, though he's open to discussion during class. Generally a nice guy otherwise!

Heard horrible things about him but I had a great time in his class. Feel free to tell him what u think in class, but on your papers (there are like 3 TOPS) regurgitate what he said and expand on HIS ideas. I know it sounds terrible, but hes really not a bad guy and he genuinely wants you to succeed.

terribly boring man. he's all over the place with his thoughts. i can't say i really learned anything from him. you'll fantasize about all the different ways you'd like to kill yourself while you're sitting there. I wouldn't recommend him at all, but his class is doable...just very tedious.

SOOOO boring! Just blabs on and on and on, even when class has been over for like 10 minutes...loves to hear himself talk, and when people try to ask questions or participate he shoots their opinions down and continues to talk to himself. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM! unless you like being bored to tears.
