James is such an amazing professor and person. He's kind and considerate of all students and their needs, and always makes sure that he's being clear when explaining. The class had a lot of lectures, but James's passion for astronomy made it so much better, even for someone like me, who doesn't really like science.

Comment:

Took both 102 and 111 with Lowenthal. He's an amazing professor and really cares about inspiring his students. Very accessible in office hours and grades fairly. He does really cool research on the early universe and will gladly talk about it with you. Never met someone who didn't like him. Take a class with him!!!

This professor is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's easy to talk to and is very understanding. He makes lectures fun and engaging. While some of the material can be difficult he makes sure to answer all questions and make sure EVERYONE understands.

Best professor I've ever had. Super enthusiastic, answered my many questions, made sure it wasn't too math heavy. Made class really fun, and I even enjoyed learning about physics, something I never thought I would be able to do. Lots of cool demonstrations and observations. I took this just to fill up space, but I ended up loving it.

I lOVE this class. Probably the best one at Smith so far- the class is challenging but u can easily get an A. Very engaging and Professor James is AWESOME! Very nice, sweet, and energetic. Also, very funny. Overall, you will learn A LOT and have a good time. FUN CLASS- Must take it before graduation!
