Comment:
Dr. Lockenour has an incredible amount of knowledge, and Id be happy to have a beer with him and listen to all of his (very interesting) anecdotes. Nonetheless, I would not take a history class of his again. Its likely my fault for not realizing how in-depth Nazi Germany is, but his grading is incredibly strict, so youre forced to learn it.

Lectures aren't mandatory and I wish I hadn't gone to all of them. Unit Assignments (the only part of your grade) are entirely based on the assigned readings on Canvas. It's about 60-100 pages total for each assignment, so if you don't mind reading a lot you should be fine. Some opportunities for extra credit also.

Great guy, lectures can get boring and his unit assignments can be hard but if you manage to catch up with his readings it's a breeze

This man is the living paragon of genius, a bit picky but with good reason and intentions. Always willing to answer questions and very knowledgeable. Just make sure to keep up with the readings and pay attention to details when it comes to quizzes.

Lockenour provided little to no guidance at all. While knowledgeable, he has almost a smug attitude about him. He seemed to be more interested in being considered a historian than in actually being a professor. Avoid if you can!

His unit assignments are insanely easy. Just skim over the readings and take notes/listen in the lectures and you'll get an A. He starts most lectures with a video that relates to what he's talking about. You get to drop the lowest assignment score. He wants to help you as much as possible, you just have to go an ask for it.

Do the readings and the reading guidelines and you'll be fine on the quizzes. Class is somewhat helpful. TAs are the ones to go to for questions

I had him for Blood and Iron. Easy class, basically. The midterms were pretty simple, and the final paper was your standard 12 page history class final paper. Nothing extraordinary. Good guy, seemed approachable, taught well, knew his stuff, easy grader, knew us all by name. Not spectacular, but not bad by any means.

If youre taking him for war and peace, you might as well stay in the class. Lectures aren't mandatory and the material covered them isn't on the quizzes. Do the readings, take notes, and you'll be fine. Final project was a joke. Ta's do most of the work, as long as youre cool with them , youre golden.

DEF TAKE LOCKENOUR! He teaches some tough topics but he does it with class. He makes you work but he also makes you WANT to work, so in the end you do well. His quizzes are easy if you know how to use a book or an index, and his midterm and final are takehome. Definately take Lockenour!

Whie it seems that many here disagree with his teachings, I never once found him to be anything less than coherent, unbiased, and completely willing to help out. I didn't think it was a terrible amount of work, although the work one is responsible for must be done. I still drop in to say hello.

Boring, lots of diplomatic jargon that he doesnt explain very well, and a little too much enthusiasm for Germany. You'd think it was the only country in Europe. To Top it off, he's a nasty grader and picks his favorites in class.
