Comment:
Professor Wheeler's class for 150 was very very lecture heavy. I fell asleep in all of them. He had weekly quizzes that are pretty tough for a good score but works out well with his grading system. The final was very easy. Overall, I was very dedicated to attend classes but it seemed like a waste of time b/c of how easy the final was.

I took his evolutionary biology class Lectures: He tends to go on tangents and rambles. He's passionate, but his lectures are hard to pay attention to. He doesn't get to the point right away; it makes taking notes hard. Quizzes/Tests: One final test, 14 weekly quizzes. Most of the questions felt like trivia questions.

We had weekly quizzes on lecture and each chapter of the textbook. This is the first class I ever had to read all the way through a textbook for. He reads directly off the slides so you dont have to go to class. He assigned three inquire based assignments the whole semester and the rest of your grade is based off of quizzes.

Dr. Wheeler is a really nice down to earth guy and is very knowledgeable. He is willing to help whenever you ask. The negatives about him are that his lectures are boring, and his tests are difficult. He does post his lectures online which are nice, and his tests are multiple choice for maybe half & then there was a lot short answer questions.

Attending class is not necessary for the information he gives is tangent and off topic. Lab has been cancelled all but one time, the information that is needed for exams can be found in the book and on your own time.

His lectures can seem a bit boring, but it really helped to go over the powerpoints on D2L the day before. They always mentioned things that will be on the tests. He gives tests back and the exam was just all of the test questions. Exam was an easy A.

Labs are kind of boring but not horrible- You will probably never be there for the whole 3 hours. Lab tests are really hard though- He curves everything by close to a letter grade- lecture tests are not horrible but you will need to do the practice tests- Lecture is pointless though and his Power Points are horrible.

Quizzes from chapters every week and they are only 10 questions on the quiz. Interesting facts and side stories from different lectures.

This was the hardest class but my favorite class I have ever taken. He is extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter and very helpful when you need it. I used so many of his office hours for help and he always loved seeing me. I liked the class so much I did an independent study based off of this class. I am thinking of taking again for fun.

Do not take him! He does not belong teaching in a classroom. He is passionate at what he does but he does not know how to express his knowledge. This has been my lowest grade in college by far and when I asked for help, he had nothing other than to "study more". His power points are 40 slides long and he goes through multiple in one lecture.

Dr Wheeler bases all the tests on material presented in his powerpoints, which he posts on D2L, so most people never showed up for lecture. I found the class fascinating, but he is easily distracted from his points and does tend to have a sleep-inducing drone. Exams were just the practice tests with rearranged questions. Lab was the hard part!

Attendance is not mandatory but is a good idea. Lecture is not very entertaining but there are some neat facts. GO TO LAB! Overall you need to put in work to get a good grade; use the online examples for tests & you'll pass.

I LOVE plants, and he ruined it for me. He would teach us wrong material and was corrected by students in my class. It takes him 30 minutes to get one point across, and he would skip labs and give us no direction. I learned absolutely nothing in this class and refused to sit there and be taught the wrong material therefore I withdrew.

Very confusing lectures and difficult tests. Fill out the practice tests that he posts online! He puts many of the exact same questions on the texts, however, the questions are from a textbook the class used 2yr ago. You'll have to google to find most of the info. Good prof, but it's very hard to get above a C in his class.

he is a really nice guy, but not a very organized teacher. I did not like that we only had 3 tests (which were all scantron) during the semester because if you mess up on one, you can't really make it up. for one of the tests I transferred my answers wrong from the question packet to the scantron sheet. always check your answers
