chill old guy with a strange sense of humor. but he was laid back and calm most of the times. we watched videos in class way too often but its a great slacker class. the lack of instruction sometimes makes it hard to study for tests but if you do your work you'll cruise through the semester

Obi is the man. Aside from the fact that he is not super organized or a traditional teacher at all, he is a really nice guy who means well and it is hard to get below a B in the class.

Obi is the man. He is such a nice guy and truly a character. Some people get frustrated with the class but if you take the time to read the textbook you can't miss an A. Fun class too if you get a group of buddies in the class as the class touches on some sensitive subjects which you can speak your honest opinion of without being judged

Comment:

Obi knows his stuff and would be a good prof for someone who is majoring in SOC. For the Gen Ed filler, it’s an easy class, although lectures can get boring at times. Class consists of tests, quizzes and a term paper, and active listening is not crucial for success. His lectures will often can stray off-topic and can still be interesting.

Obi is a superb teacher. The tests usually combine the Chapter readings and his lectures. Go to his class! You learn a lot from him, and your grade will definitely reflect your attendance. Read the chapters - don't slack on them especially! A- without too much work for me. Again, great teacher; knows what he is talking about.

Prof. Obi is hysterical! He was able to keep me awake at 8:15 MWF, an impressive feat. He makes class interesting with lots of real life examples and jokes. The quizzes are straight from the book, but the tests are pretty hard. Still, should not get lower than a B and Obi is enjoyable.

Quizzes are easy just read over the chapter. Tests are pretty easy. Two papers, one was a group paper other was a research paper. Prof. Obi wants you to earn a good grade. Even gave 100 quiz grades just to help grades.Centertaining, relates topics to the real world. ENjoyed the class.

Cancelled class frequently, very disorganized. I got an A+ in the class but do not recommend him, take someone else & learn more. Used theories to skirt issues of justice thru positive/descriptive analysis without normative discussions. E.g. prostitution is a function of society, didn't refute comment that some little girls want to become pros.

Comment:

Entertaining professor who enjoys his subject. Likes to discuss subjects and relate them to the real world. Not typical "ivory tower." Quizzes are more difficult than you expect but are worth very little. Tests aren't bad if you study. He won't know your name by the end of the semester but he'll recognize your face.

only professor i know who says "true dat," quotes eminem and discusses the walk of shame in class. i had him freshman year for one class, yet he impressed me when he recognized me during senior year - i'm not the type to stand out, so it showed he pays more attention in class than you realize.

Not what I expected from an intro soc class.Nice guy.Some interesting discussions, Nigeria always pops up.10-15 page BORING research- term paper based on the 9/11 Comission Report!Lots of movies, some pretty good.Mostly lecture, often repetitive.Quizzes are word for word from book.Gives out 100s w/o taking the quizzes a lot.Tests pretty easy too.

Not a funny guy...cracks a nonsensical joke about twice per class. One word to describe him: boring as hell (okay, 3 words). Nice guy, but oh my god, his class was tough to sit through. Easy class, with the exception of a 15 page term paper on the dysfunctions of the 9/11 bureaucracy (not fun).
