Late start class. Easy quizzes, all on Quizlet. Mandatory concert reports (2) worth 50 points each have to do at least 1 to let a passing grade. No hard but the boring part is to go to the concert and write a report

take for winter online (not worth taking a full semester of), and get Arts out of way fast! 12 quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final, which are all taken off online. no textbook really needed. 1 concert and 2 page report on it. in-class listening final, which he gives you the 10 songs, just take notes of what you hear and bring those notes in, and match

Comment:

Speaking from my online class experience, I didn't like this class. The only part I enjoyed or felt challenged was the Piano Concerto and the report about it. Quizzes/tests are straight from the test bank, so you can always check your answers online. If you have any questions, forget about it. Ordaz doesn't answer emails.

Straight forward teacher for a ge class. I took his online class during the summer. You show up to the orientation and listening final. Everything else is online. You have to attend one recital and write about it, but it was pretty easy. He gives you a list of events you can attend. 3 quizzes a week, 1 midterm, 1 essay report, and 1 final.

I took Ordaz for Winter session in 2016. Straight forward class. If you do everything you could easily obtain an A. 12 quiz's, 1 midterm, 1 final and 1 written report on a concert you attended during the class. He gives options on concerts to attend to. Also book is mandatory. Only negative I have to say is he never responded to an email of mine.

Took online winter. Quiz for every teacher, need textbook to answer these. Very easy A. Final have to listen to music, easily doable since they are distinct. Attend one concert, don't have to stay for whole thing, take the brochure and leave, it's really long. Write paper on concert. Very easy A for GE.

Mr Ordaz is never ever on time. I took his class this past semester and it was actually so rude and frustrating how late he'd be always 10-15 minutes late if not more. How does he expect students to tke his class seriously if he doesnt himself? Even on test days, and FINAL day he didnt show up on time. Also, his class is pretty boring.

I never thought I hadto study Music that difficult in my life. Everytime I attended his class, I felt pressure and disinterested. His tests were 8/10 hard and I had to study the definitions as well. I thought it was the class to relax and enjoy...but not.

I took his class for winter session. Quizzes are from notes. He gives a lot of examples. If you don't understand anything, just ask. He'll definitely help you. He makes the material easy to understand. Take his class. You will not regret it. This class, overall, is fun, fast, and passable. Take his class. You don't know until you try! Straight up.

Prof.Ordaz, by far one of the best teachers I've had at Mission. I'm not a classical music type girl, but I really enjoy everything I learned. I took winter sesh so it moved fast. He doesn't take roll but you need the notes b/c all his test are based on the notes. He's super chill, great personality, and cute! :) It's actually not a boring class.

Comment:

He references his lectures to the text but the text wasn't vital to the class. Taking notes is important because that's what the tests are based on, you can easily ace the class if you pay attention and he allows you to make-up missed tests. He's very nice and attentive and attendance doesn't matter but the class was boring with little interaction.

nice guy, easy as long as you listen and take notes. he gives quizzes and most of them are based on your notes. you also have to write a one page paper about a concert that he tells you to go to but dont worry the concert is usually in school so you dont have to drive anywhere far. the paper is easy just apply what you learned and your notes to it.

Professor Ordaz is so sweet and kind!!! He listens to all your questions and answers them thouroughly. He has such a passion for music, and you can tell he loves teaching. He's the best instructor I've had so far. Everyone should take at least one class with him. I can't wait to take his music appreciation class!
