DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH DR. ATKINSON. You are literally going to be better off taking this class with any other professor. He only reads off the PowerPoints, there is no real teaching going on. If you ask questions, he treats you like you're stupid. The class only has 450 points, which are 4 tests and 1 homework grade. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.

Comment:

Dr. Atkinson is a tough, no-nonsense man, but he does care about his students success. This is the most failed course at UCA, so its not necessarily his fault that the course is difficult. Lecture does not provide anything you cant get from the online homework and textbook aside from clues as to when the exams are and what may be on them.

Face it, this is a tough coarse. Professor Atkinson is not a bad teacher, but not great either. He tries to explain thing in a way that you can understand. Not sure how successful he is at that. Moves a little fast, but he knows what he is talking about. Test are hard. Learn to read the questions carefully, some seem tricky.

This has been a very tough coarse. Dr. Atkinson isn't the worst professor I have ever had, but is not the best either. He knows what he is teaching and in a way, kinda expects you to just know it too. If I had to do over again, I would probably find a different professor.

he was a bad teacher, handsdown. teach yourself except more toward the end of the semester he got a little more in depth. need to know vocabulary and equations on every test. hardest test is the 3rd one (last before the final) and, overall, the whole class made a D. AT BEST. would not take again, and do not recommend. BUT you can make a C easily.

Expect to be teaching yourself a lot because he is not very clear when he "teaches". Tests are HARD. He is really strict about no cell phones and will kick you out of class. He's basically a huge jerk who expects you to already know everything before taking this course. DO NOT TAKE HIM.

DO NOT TAKE HIM. I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE HIM. He tells you to ask questions and basically calls you stupid for asking it. His test are extremely hard. He goes over problem after problem like you're supposed to already know without actually teaching. He is very rude and I absolutely dreaded going to his class.

If the day subject is "m", he'll talk about "k", "l", "n" and "o", the alphabet, maybe words, barely "m". As most instructors, he won't personally care- about you- even if you show interest on the class.

This teacher is going to be hard. i mean really hard. the only hw he gives is on wileyplus and you only get 50pts for ALL of the hw. there were only 3 test. the first one is kind of easy and then the rest are impossible. his teaching is just straight lecture and just asks questions that nobody knows the answer to. avoid this teacher.

One of my least favorite teachers. I'm an accouting major and he was awful! Just went over hw and didn't explain anything at all. I got sick and missed classes at the very end of the semester (I was an A+ student up till then) and he would NOT help me at all. Ended up with a B because of the last test and his lack of understanding.

Do not take him! Seriously! I read the book all the way through the chapters and 230 points of wileyplus that he only counts 50 of. 3 tests plus final. NEVER emails back if you have a question. Just goes over homework but doesnt really explain it. First test is really easy...the rest of the tests..not easy at all..take someone else if possible!

He's rude sometimes...but not necessarily a bad professor. He's a decent teacher but you do need to read the book and come to class. I listen to him and understand some of it then the book clarifies it for me. He gives you homework to help and goes over it in class. It's hard material and he does a decent job at explaining but READ YOUR BOOK.

To teach each chapter, he goes through the list of objectives, but if you follow along in the book, it completes the chapter. Sometimes if you ask questions he'll answer with "I don't know, you tell me" instead of offering help. Pretty typical tests though; just read the chapters and do the homework on wiley plus and you'll do fine!

I do not understand all of these ratings...This isn't High School! Don't expect to be baby fed! Accounting isn't exactly easy...you have to put in the time and effort if you want an A. It's possible!! Mr. Atkinson is a great teacher! He encourages class participation and feed-back. He gives fair tests over the material covered. Highly Recommend!!!

If all possible I would NOT take him. He goes over the chapter objectives and homework that is his method of teaching. He is not helpful at all. Accounting is a hard course, especially when the teacher does not teach, and not helpful. Take someone else!
