Comment:
Prof. Marlin gets the job done. He raises his voice a lot and talks about political views constantly. He tells you word for word what to write, the organizational pattern, and so on. Which is fine. But I personally did not feel equipped with how to write, by myself, by the end of the class. I would not recommend.

I think he uses his time as a teacher to preach his political viewpoints to the class. One time, he even strayed far off topic to go on a rant about his interpretation of the Ten Commandment. He also preaches about today's younger generation being lazy and spoiled, but cites pseudo-scientific evidence to support it.

Love this class! took him for Eng 1301. He doesnt use a book-topics are interesting, up to date, and about the real world. All you have to do is follow his directions, do exactly as he says and you'll pass w/ an A or B. He helps any time you ask. He is a great guy and I cant wait to take him again for 1302. Write as he tells you to as you will pass

He is a great teacher. Yes he is hard, but he is only preparing you for the real world. Life is not easy out there and he has been through a lot and is just making sure you understand things you should've learned in high school. Really nice if you give him a chance, he will explain anything you ask him too. Has a lot of discipline that is helpful!

I just completed his 1301 class. You have to write alot in class and yes, he tells you exactly what to write..which isn't as easy as it sounds...but is a very good teaching tool. I personally found the subjects we wrote on enlightening and interesting. He does want everyone to make an A and offers the extra help to accomplish this. I enjoyed it

Run as fast as you can and as far as you can! He tell you exactly what to right and how to right which sound easier than what it actually is! He tells you what to do which is very unclear if you don't understand what he is saying. Very hard and judgmental! TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!

I'm taking him this semester. He's pretty easy, although his choice for essays are extremely boring. If you just do what he says you won't fail.

Very easy and clear. He tells you EXACTLY what to write and wants to give everyone an A..and I would say most did in my class. I got a C in 1301 with a different teacher..made an A easily in with Marlin in 1302. Not possible to fail this class. Lets you out early everyday. You have to write 4 essays and 1 research paper. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great teacher, a little intense at first, but gives a lot of info. If you do what he tells you to, there is no way to fail this course.

Starts out rough, tries to flunk out all the slackers. He's much easier and nicer once he's got the class down to the students he wants to teach. He's better than some (Waller & Watts) but Roppolo is a far better choice i'm told.

Uninspiring prompts... lack of clarity... Retired superintendent, not an English teacher. Former military capitalist who blabs on about how the lower class just needs to work harder. Hates teaching.
