Comment:

If you're not used to history lectures then it might be a little difficult to follow and take notes. Discussion helps! Exams aren't bad at all--get a study group together and use google docs! I love her enthusiasm and appreciate the archival research and little field trips. There's a lot of readings, but just budget your time. Essays aren't bad.

This is not an easy class at all. If you do not like traveling to other colleges for research or projects, do not take this class. There is a ton of reading and papers are graded pretty tough. If you are looking to develop your research skills or are genuinely interested in the subject, I would recommend this class. But it's a ton of work.

Lecture material and readings are entirely different than what the midterm and final are based off of. She goes on tangents that have no relevancy to the class. Essays are extremely hard and your writing is treated as if you are an english major aspiring to be a bestselling author. DO NOT TAKE FOR GENED. save yourself and sanity.

Comment:

Laura Lovett is very knowledgable, intelligent, and well-spoken. She is also extremely sweet and energetic. Being in class with her is a pleasure EXCEPT for the fact that she is INCREDIBLY disorganized and is almost completely incapable of communicating with her students or making sure that her TAs are on the same page.

As I history major I went into the class with the knowledge, but Professor Lovett went into depth and explained aspects of the course that I hadn't heard before. She's very nice and her office is almost always open. Strongly recommend.

Not a history fanatic but this was the first time I felt like out of 120 students the proff was speaking to me. Dr. Lovett makes the class relatable to our current generation. GREAT PROFFESOR, looking forward to taking another class with her. PERFECT HS gen-ed (got an A) and I highly recommend it!!! MUST attend class and read before!

She is a very enthusiastic and sweet woman, who knows a lot about the subject and wants to share what she knows. The class was easy so long as you did the readings and listened to her lectures. Papers weren't too bad, but she would grade some of them randomly and she's a tough grader.

This class is awesome, and a lot of that is Professor Lovett's enthusiasm! She is super helpful and a great teacher. She can be a little chaotic, but that just adds to the charm. She tries to make history come alive (we sang in one class) and thats great. I'll take all the rest of her classes, and I'm sure I'll learn a lot.

She is a terrible professor. She clearly is very knowledgeable however she is has real problems conveying that knowledge to a class. Never seen a professor more all over the place. Also the TA grades extremely hard and is unfair. Expects you to read 4 lengthy readings a week usually-ridiculous this lady needs to get over herself. Avoid!

Class was great She is amazing. Very informed on the teaching and also very knowledgeable. The TA was awful, but she needs to learn how to grade fairly and she is bias. The Prof is amazing I would recommend this class

She's very theatrical. VERY- but I do think she cares about the material a great deal and wants to inspire the passion she clearly feels for history. Her readings were pretty lengthy but you can get by if you at least skim them. She's a little crazy, yes, but if you make the effort, she's more than interested in helping you out.

Her teaching style is extremely engaging. She is very passionate and theatrical to spice up the lectures. Everything is tied together very well. She is also extremely flexible with grading and makeups and is truly interested in helping students learn. I very much enjoyed her class. TA is great too!

attendance isnt really mandatory... class is wicked easy. no exams, no tests. just 5 papers...she honestly does control the class very well, a great professor.... truly amazing.... i cant say enough about how this woman is a great profesor.
