Dr. Howard is a bad professor. She gives a very unclear standard of how she wants things done, then proceeds to get upset when you explain to her you don't understand. She has extremely high standards for an introductory course that contains many students who do not major in a performance area. Absolutely do not take this course if optional.

Dr. Howard is a professor I took for at least 3 semesters in a row. At first I did the work and performance and I received good grades on assignments, but others received lower grades for the same output of work. I still received good grades in her class but sometimes it was difficult to meet her expectations. Many other students agree to this.

I have always loved public speaking, performing, etc. Theatre has been one of my favorite hobbies for 10 years and somehow she managed to make a performance studies class my least favorite class I have EVER taken. Does not respect students, does not care. Would not recommend taking her class. Take anyone else or change majors. Seriously.

i never write these bc im not sure people read them but she was so bad. Shes a total ego maniac who isnt interested in teaching or her students. the other profs in this program are amazing. avoid this horrid person at all costs. She was so unprofessional it was astounding.

This professor was very unclear with her instructions for the online course and my grade did suffer from it. I got really annoyed because she graded for grammar and spelling mistakes, yet every email and some things she posted on BB had these issues. I do NOT recommend her for an online course.

Dr. Howard is very inconsistent with grading and due dates (dates change weekly). Her instructions are not clear for her assignments. In addition her assignments are not always converted to work for an online course (they are still set up as an in class activity). Also, the timeliness of her response to emails and grading is not sufficient.

I dreaded the 5-7 min. memorized monologues . While it's not my fav, it's a good class! She loves her subject. TAKE NOTES! Don't underestimate exams/papers -the midterm & final are HARD & she grades papers like an upper-level course. I suggest taking it as a JR (even though it's 200 level class). More experience with APA/public speaking def helps.

Interesting class! Didn't expect to learn much, but I actually did. It's true she doesn't do study guides and she doesn't really write notes on the board, but almost every word she says comes from the book anyway, so if you read, attendance is not really important. Clear expectations, not hard to get a good grade.

This class is a performing class. You will get up in front of the class and perform poems, short stories and other things. She makes you use a lot of your own ideas, doesn't just hand it to you. If you like planning and straightforward things, don't take her. Only exams are midterm and final, all online.

the worst college teacher i have experienced so far but i have had a lot of good ones and I'm just done with my first year, their has to be worse though. She is unorganized, Can't work a grade book and its a boring class that you just need to read the book and take the test online,no need to attend class unless group activity.

Her class is O.K. and sometimes interesting, but honestly she goes right along with the book. So since her class is not mandatory, you just need to read the book and not go to class. Her tests are extremely hard! I am an A student and got a D+ and C- on her first 2 tests.

I went to every class, read the textbook, and took the exact notes off of her slides along with what she says, and the tests are still impossible. they're all online. she also does group assignments, and you have to write papers over them, and she has ridiculous expectations. i would NOT take this class.

Terrible experience...I went to every class took notes and everything still not getting a good grade i recommend some one else for sure. She is so random that you never know what she is talking about or when to come to class unless you check BB. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS...

Dr. Howard makes you think about topics in a different light. She is very helpful IF YOU ASK FOR IT. One day she even met me off campus to help me with a paper. I have learned so much from Dr. Howard. She is my favorite professor at USI:)

If you take this class during the summer, be prepared to work! Overall, the class isn't hard. There are a lot of little projects that are due in a RIDICULOUSLY short amount of time. I got A's on all the projects, a C on the midterm, pretty sure I failed the final, but still got a B in the class. Just go to class, take notes, and do the projects!
