Awesome prof. For sure would take again. Loved his lectures and how clear his drawings were (greengeometry, redforces, bluestructure). This made statics way easier to understand. Funny dry humor. Works with you outside of class until you understand. Now I love trusses and bridges.

He seems a little intimidating at first but he's very nice (even invited international students to thanksgiving at his house.) He explains things very well and is very helpful when you ask for help. Class is not difficult.

No clue what he's like at the 100lvl classes, but in this course he explained things in a clear and engaging way. His mannerisms give you an initial impression that staying away will be a challenge, but it's not. His sense of humor helps. He's very approachable and always willing to stop a help, even if you aren't in his class.

Very awkward and weird man. He did not know the material at all and instead I had to even teach him some of the material that he was supposed to teach me...I'm lucky I used AutoCad and Inventor in high school because I never would have learned from him.

Pathetic teacher. I even asked questions and he wouldnt answer them but insisted on asking neighbors which became a nuisance. If you have never learned using cad then you will quickly become frustrated. he will not teach you anything.

AutoCAD was a fairly light class in terms of homework for everyone, but DeRooy gave even less than the other profs. Very willing to give help whenever needed, and the tests were simple drawings straight from the book or a handout. Fun class with a great prof.
