I worked so hard, I would ask questions. Approached her during class. Corrected my mistakes. Participated during class. Turned in all assignments. Never absent. Fully dedicated. And yet received an F. All is worded by mouth no structure. Her teaching skills are outdated. I wish I never wasted my time in taking her class. See for yourself.

This was probably the worst class I took at Pasadena City College. Like many other students here said I tried my hardest, I even tried to give new perspectives on some ideas philosophers had and she generally argues that her perspective is the only correct one. By the end of the class there were only 12 students, I think that says a lot. Be careful

A well-meaning lady who tries to open discussion and help her students. However, her understanding of the material is basic at best and she fails to really boost student learning. She grades in a very particular, often harsh way, but fails to give helpful comments or expand her own grading method. I would not recommend this class.

Let me first say I am a hard working student that will rarely put down a teacher, but this was a VERY difficult class, and I did my work. This teacher was behind on grading so you did not know how you were doing, expected you to understand philosophers in HER own way, and was not clear on the group project. Offered book, but most stressful class.

Its her way or the highway! She is a semi tough grader, and she will spit in your face (Hate you) if you try to challenge her. Only a paper due each week, and a comprehensive final. No chance to show you intellect, If in the paper is not what she expected to be, then straight forward an F. Its never understood what she wants. Not Recommended.

My heart sings when I think of this wonderful human being. The study of Ethics is invaluable as is and you can tell she lives and breathes the stuff. She's not easy but does everything she can to help you if you seek her out. I felt like I was in a meaningful conversation with a close friend. Deeply resonating life long lessons to be gained here 3

Not the professor you want to take if you want to dip your feet in philosophy. Harsh grading and your opinion DOES NOT MATTER to her. You either accept her way of thinking or fail all her commentaries and quizzes. If you even HOPE to pass, participate and do amazing on your group project and final test.

Prof Handelman is tough. Lectures are Okay. Not many tests, but several papers. She is hard to understand in regards to what she is expecting. I wouldn't take her again. i thought the class would have been easy i understood almost everything yet i still got a "C" and I was in class all the time participating.

Very tough class if you take days off. Tough grader as well, but she gives you every opportunity to make up your mistakes. Essentially you can get a 100 percent if you try hard enough. Listen to her corrections and write them down. I dont know why theres alot of hate for this teacher. Just follow her instructions and pay attention you will pass.

THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER. I do not know why she is still teaching. She hates a challenge, you will fail if you express your own opinion or thoughts. Do not waste your time taking her class you will regret it. ATTENDANCE IS CRITICAL.

HORRIBLE TEACHER. If you have your own interpenetration on one of the philosophers' readings she shuts you down and tells you that you're wrong just because you don't have the same ideas as her. SHE SHOULD NOT BE TEACHING. Her class is a joke.

Anyone with a desire to gain knowledge and expand their views would enjoy this class. While she may be a "hard grader" she gives you every possible opportunity to make back the points. This is not the class to take for a meaningless easy A. She's a passionate educator. I recommend this Professor 100%

I loved professor Handleman. She may be a critical grader, but she gives you ever opportunity to make up for your mistakes. If you hate this class it's because you were not willing to really learn to information, or even read a few pages every day. I loved this class, and I would recommend it to anyone. I had no problem getting a good grade.

The hardest class Ive ever taken before in my life! You had to write EXACTLY in the precise wording she wanted!! I've never been more frustrated with a class before! That being said, she's a sweet lady but be prepared to do LOTS of rewrites and possible tears of frustration!

Professor Handelman's class is easy if you're dedicated. She provides lots of her free time to help you out. Make sure to keep reviewing the write ups until she gives you a check plus. She is clear to tell you what your papers need to include. The only problem is that she does not like it when you challenge her ideas.

No textbook. Do not take this class. I dropped because she was terrible. 3 hours and always felt like a waste of time! Not philosophy at all! Its her way or the highway! If you email instead of call she gets mad and takes it out on your grade.

Not helpful at all. She has her style of teaching, in a very bad way. You think you're smart until she gives you a D and F in most assignments you thought you did well. Take this class if you would like an F.

Though this professor may have a specific path she insists you follow, she is a great teacher. More than writing or reading, you will be thinking in this class which provides the most rewarding experience. If you pay close attention and always ask questions, you will better comprehend the ideas presented and do well in the class.
