Comment:

Dr. Offield is extremely smart. However, his classes are extremely hard. He just assumes we understand huge concepts, and his tests are extremely hard (they usually cover minute details from the book, lecture, and power points). He was also pretty rude when I came to him for help (and I am an "A" student). I was very disappointed in him as my prof.

Dr. Offield is extremely smart, but he lectures his class as if we already know what he is talking about. He doesn't do a very good job in explaining things, and can be somewhat condescending at times. He doesn't give study guides for the tests, and so you MUST work HARD and do extra credit opportunities to get a good grade.

I had him when the attendance was extra credit but it wouldnt have helped that much the tests are basically the study guides he puts on blackboard and the final is optional. the Quizzes are all online and there is no reason that you shouldnt do well on them becuase there open book.

since the change in the attendance policy, it is almost impossible to get an a. no more extra credit for attending and his lectures go way over your head and dont do with the test. study your whole book to pass the test basically. not clear on what will be on the test. hard online quizzes.

I took his honors class. He is a very sweet man. The lectures were dead boring, he is very knowledgeable, and i felt like he was teaching at a 300 level. I suck at science and i only learnt anything when i had to study for the final. Class was easy for the most part.

He's a really nice guy. His lectures are very boring, but the class is very easy. I slept or played poker through class and just studied and hour or two before tests. You get a possible 65 points of extra credit and quizes are open book. Plus, the final is optional. I'd take him if i were you.

He's boring but gives so much extra credit for attendance (brought me from a B to an A). So if you take him, come to class and play Sudoku if you have to (not that I would ever do that in class). :) Quizzes online open notes/book. If you don't mind boring to get an A take him and make sure you come to class. Final is optional to drop a lower grade.

I really enjoyed Professor Offield's class. He is extremely smart and knows his area of study! The classes were at times, very long, but if you pay attention and do your quizzes, you'll do fine in his class. He is very helpful and a respectful teacher. He will definitely expand your knowledge!

Offeild is a great prof. He is really nice and easy to understand. He gives extra credit for attendence and his final exam, although not mandantory, is super easy. There is a lot of built in grace to his grading system. Wonderful prof-you should take him!

Dr. Offield is a sweet person, but his ability to teach BIOL on a common-man level was lacking. Had a hard time understanding what he was talking about because he was so technical in his terms and would be better off teaching graduate BIOL than a 101 class. Took this class in a hall of about 70, so I had an impossible time paying attention.

PLEASE TAKE him!!!! GREAT PROF!!!!!!!!!! Very sweet and helpful. If you get perfect attendance you get a whole letter grade extra difference!!!!Boring subject but it BIo. he makes it interesting and he is funny!!!

I'm not a science guy at all, but Dr.Offield made this class very interesting. He understands that the majority of students in this class aren't Bio majors, and he structures the class to help you. Make sure you attend class and take the online quizzes, it just helps your grade out. He's a great professor who really cares, i'm glad I took him.

Great bio teacher b/c he loves teaching it and has a great way of applying Biblical aspects to biology. Show up and listen and the best thing to do for the test is use his practice tests, take it then study the areas you missed and you'll do fine.
