Comment:

From my experience, professor Krause was by far the most helpful and caring teacher at Hofstra. Despite the three exam and one final layout, as well as tedious amounts of SmartBook assignments and online quizzes, she makes sure that every student is on track with the material. Try to attend class if you can or you won't understand the posted slides

I loved Dr. Krause so much, obviously a very difficult course but she cares so much about her students and I learned SO MUCH from her. Most caring teacher at Hofstra

She made me not hate BIO 11, you still have to dedicate your life to this class but she makes it actually bearable and is fair. take her if you can

Great Professor, but expects you to come to class with the basics. A lot of smartbook assignments and online quiz every week, which can get annoying. 3 tests & final. Tests - m/c & short answers. Learning objectives & workshops help. Fair grader - gives you the most points where she can - will even give pts if you cross out the right answer!

Professor Krause can be intimidating at times, but she is one of my favorite professors. Her exams are very challenging, but she is always willing to work with you to improve.

This class is incredibly difficult, but answering test questions becomes easier as the semester goes on. It is a learning curve type of class, and Dr. Krause is incredibly encouraging. She knows how difficult her class is and how much she asks of us. She can really tell who is putting in effort and who is kind of just sliding by. Fantastic.

Really sweet lady that genuinely cared about her students and wanted them to do well. The course itself is just difficult. Her tests were hard but she prepared you well for them. If you showed up to class, did the homework, and studied, you did well in lecture (labs had different professors which weren't so great), but you had to make that effort.

Dr. Krause is a dynamic professor. She keeps you engaged during her lectures, and always points out when certain majors should really appreciate a topic we are about to cover. She gives you weekly assignments so that you have a general idea of the lecture material before you show up, which is a must in this class. Hard tests, but she is fair.

Awesome professor. Very nice and always willing to help/answer questions. That being said, she gives out a lot of work and you are encouraged to read the textbook, but her grading on warmups and tests is very fair if you do so.

Dr. Krause is a great Biology professor. She is really passionate and wants her students to learn. She is a very fair grader and always explains things if people have questions. It is a lot a lot of work but she makes it manageable as long as you study. I would take her again compared to the other bio 11 teachers for sure.

Krause is one of the best professors you can get in the bio department. Her tests are hard but fair if you study. She is very interactive and is always willing to help. She does warmups and gives some extra credit but don't rely on it. Study hard and you'll do well. If you need to take Bio 011, take her !

Good professor, tough class. Tests are hard (like really hard), but she is willing to help if you go to office hours. Had to put in a lot of work for this class. Tough grader and very specific, but learned alot. NOT an easy class

Don't take her if you are looking for an easy A. Definitely be prepared to put in a lot of work. Tests are tricky but grading is fair. Your grade will directly reflect how much effort you put in. Learned a lot from this class though.

CellBio:One of the, if not the best bio professor. Uses props in lectures. Her PP slides are very detailed so, by going to class and studying the PP's I pulled an A-. I learned SO much. Class was a lot of fun. Very analytical but tests aren't ridiculously hard. Tests based on key points hit in lecture. Very fair grader. Somegradedinclassgroupwork.

Comment:

Dr. Krause is an amazing teacher. She demonstrates a mastery of genetics and cell biology and really clarified many tricky concepts. Her tests are very application-based so you have to understand the material well, but it's definitely manageable. She is very interactive which helps so much! I would definitely take her again!

She also curves some tests slightly, when she feels its necessary, so she is very fair with grading. She curved 3 of our 4 tests, but just a few points. Be on time to lecture.

Overall great BIO 11 professor. Very interactive during lecture. Did warmups b4 she taught the material, forced us to read chapter b4 lecture. 4 tests,if you study the ppts and go over the key concepts, u will do great on her tests. READ THE TXTBK! She doesnt have much extra time, very busy. If you took AP Bio in hs, u are golden for this course!

-hardest grader -hardest tests-mostly essay/fill in questions so knowing every single detail of each lecture is necessary, & even when you know the lecture material you will still receive questions on the tests that you will not know -huge amount of homework that is graded-she gives homework about topics we have not yet learned DON'T RECOMMEND

Krause is a good teacher and is very nice. It is known that she's the "must have" professor for bio 11. The class is just insanely difficult as well as the tests. In my opinion you need to do a lot of the learning on your own
