Comment:

Love Mr. Guista, he is hilarious and really smart. Wrote quite a few essays, but I found myself becoming a better writer with him as a professor. He relates to real life and knows a lot about what we discuss. He'll go over your whole essay with you if you see him during his office hours, extremely helpful.

Comment:

Most of the reading was pretty dull along with having to write 4 to 7+ page essays on what you read. My first couple of essays he would leave small comments about punctuation but never tell me how to fix it or where it was located in my essay so I didn't really learn anything. If I could go back I would have chosen a different professor.

One of my least favorite professors at AHC. He doesn't help you at all and when I tried to email him about a future assignment he took almost 7 days to get back to me. His grading is very vague and kind of childish. I have had better English teachers in high school. He assigns long essays & tons of reading. I would recommend another English class

Good teacher. Do good on the essays and you should pass this class. I got B's and one A on my essays. I got a F on one of the tests but still got a B in the class and the final is open notes.

In creative writing, you're graded on completeness. If you do everything he asks of you- a few discussion boards, two poems, and two short stories- you get an A. So simple an idiot could do it. You don't even have to be good at writing, just willing to try it. He'll give you honest feedback, though I would have liked a little more of it.

Basically if you do what he says competently he will give you an "A". This class is creative writing, and to be honest it's hard to grade creative writing. He gives his honest opinion of your work--helpful--and I recommend this class if you need an extra course with very minimal hassle.

Great teacher. Had him online, every time I had a question I emailed him and he'd email back right away. He has office hours & will look over your writing, if you'd like him to.His critiquing is very helpful and doesn't make you feel like a fool for not understanding something. This class is very manageable if you have a heavy load & enjoy writing.

Mr Guista is the best English teacher I've had at AHC. He makes class interesting and I love that he focuses on grammar during class time. Learned a lot and became a more confidant writer, I would definitely recommend him and plan on taking him for 103

Dont miss out on any oportunity to take this man. Im a math and science guy, hate english, however Guista's class is so fun and something i honestly looked forward too. Teaches as if most people have to take it not as though we are majoring in english which i felt was fair. Thanks Guista, yo da bomb (english pun intended)

If you want to learn something in Eng. 103, don't take Mr. Guista. As awesome and funny as he was, he was just too easy. Everything was open book/open note and he didn't write much on my papers except for an A, and I would've liked to receive some feedback. I really enjoyed his personality. He's not afraid to speak his mind and talk about anything.

I took both English 101 and 103 with him. From what I hear he's one of the easier teachers. He's nice and helpful if students need it and, though the grades rely heavily upon the essays you have plenty of time to get them done. Great teacher.

I really enjoyed Mr. Guista's critical thinking class. I was a little apprehensive prior to going in, but he made the class very fun and interesting. I enjoyed having class debates on current events, which helped a lot with writing argumentative essays. Just show up, do the work, and you could earn a fairly high grade. Great teacher!
