He was wonderful. His lectures were fast-paced; he was very witty and smart. Recitations were a must to clarify any doubts, and (like he always said) doing exercises was the only way to truly understand the concepts. He died before the semester was over and will be very much missed by a lot of those who knew him.

Logic is not my dtrong suit, but Mickey taught it well for the novice. Unfortunately, I did not get an entire semester with him as he passed away right before the hoidays. Cared about his students progress and he will be sorely missed.

His lectures aren't crystal clear, but if you go to every one and don't miss recitation, the material will become easier. Mickey is completely right--if you do enough examples and problems, you'll grasp the concepts and get an A in the class.

Comment:
Not a bad professor, but his lectures are very unorganized. He frequently rambles and talks in circles, repeating the same content over and over. If you so much as whisper in lecture or show any signs of attempting to communicate with someone around you, he will jump down your throat. If you have a good rec. prof. then you don't need his lecture

This class was challenging but not impossible if you go to class, go to recitation, and most importantly, do tons of problems on your own.

needs to retire bc always making mistakes in class lol. but not hard - after all his decreasing competence as a teacher won't get in the way of the grade you want

He is an amazing adviser AND teacher. DO NOT take this class if you are LAZY or not willing to do the work. If you are willing, however, you will LOVE the material, as well as the professor. Perloff is one of my favorite professors at Pitt.

I have rated Dr. Perloff an excellent prof but I would like to update and say that he is an amazing advisor as well. I had a problem with an unresponsive Phil prof who lost my final paper and did not submit a grade. Dr Perloff got the ball rolling to solve the problem, kept me updated, and I have him to thank for my intact grad plans. A great man.

Had him for Logic, pretty hard, Requires a LOT of work, you have to practice and practice, if you don't then don't take this class or drop. Tests are fairly hard, the study guide definitely helps, requires some memorizations. Needs to practice because during the test, you can just see what you're supposed to do right away, otherwise, good luck.

Micky was just great. I'm not going to say that his class was easy, because it wasn't. You do have to do a lot of work just so it clicks in your head. But Mickey and the TA are extremely helpful. Take this.

He spends a lot of time and explains everything several times. He tells you that practice is the key and it is. Listen to him and you'll do fine. He also spends a lot of time in his office so if you have any questions go ask. He's a funny and awesome guy.

he feels its his not his duty to teacher rather to confuse you so you go back to the book to learn.

This course is very straightforward, no matter what anyone tells you. The key is to PRACTICE (and he doesn't stop stressing this). He's not lying when he says you have to do 50 or 60 problems before it just clicks in your head. GREAT teacher though. Definitely one of the best I've ever had.

If you {like me) are a A&S student that needs a quantitative reasonign, take this! Requires some work, but both teacher and TA are extremely helpful. Highly recomended.

Good professor. Don't buy the textbooks. Just take notes in lecture since. He says anything you'll need to know for the tests. Use sparknotes to review. Put in a little effort, and you'll get an A or B.

This is a VERY large cattle call course, where hordes of freshman fulfill their quantitative requirements. Unfortunately the massive size detracts greatly from the course. Perloff doesn't seem to notice when people are lost, there are too many people to care.

Speeds through lectures and doesn't explain to clearly what the material is. Go to recitations because you'll learn more there than in class. Tests and papers can be difficult at times.

Either you get logic or you don't. Some people got it right away and had no problems, some never got it and there was nothing to do about it. Easy class though. Homework and recitations aren't mandatory but you should go to class, which isn't that bad

I didnt do any homework up til the first test and got a D on it. Go figure. I still didn't do homework but before the next test I spent a couple evenings doing a horde of logic problems and got an A on the next test. Class is pretty fun and he gives you all the notes in his course guide book which is good because I hate taking notes.
