To be honest I took this class a several years ago, but this class fostered an undeniably interest in philosophy that I will carry with me always. After this class I added a minor to my degree and got much more involved in the discipline, but it was definitely his 101 class and teaching methods that put me on that track.

He is an amazing professor! He knows so much and has so much information on so many topics. This is part of the death and dying theme and was my fourth death and dying course and by far the most challenging! He expects a lot but the knowledge you gain from the class is worth it. Even if this class doesnt sound interesting, still take it!

This was a very interesting class. He was very focused on critical thinking, so make sure you consider EVERY option to a topic because he probably has. He has biomedical ethics background so if you are going into anything health professions, he has a ton of good information. This class was fun but really made you think!

He is so intelligent!! He gets you to think in new ways and really question yourself. Attendance is mandatory, but he lets you miss 1 day unexcused. He grades at a medium level. You have to have the book. He lets you use the book for exams! You only have 5 short 2 page essays, but only 3 are graded,so you can chose not to do 2 of them if you wa

Interesting class. Very hard tests, but everyone seems to do better as the semester goes on. Tests are open not open book, so write down everything he says.

Not an easy class. He grades very difficultly and most of the lectures go over your head. Midterm and final were completely essay questions. Must write an advanced directive. Overall, do not take this class unless you absolutely have to. It is not what you expect at all.

First of all, this class has been the most interesting class I've ever taken. He is an AMAZING lecturer. Not a class you want to miss, due simply to his wealth of knowlege. However, you must work very hard to get a good grade. He is very harsh on your papers, but it is a sacrifice you have to make in order to take an extremely interesting class.

The first test is hard. Make sure you understand the book completely. It is an open book test, but the way the questions are worded is confusing. He tells you about everything the first day of class. The journal does not need to be very informative. I just talked about what we covered practically from our notes and got a high b.

Great and interesting man! Would recommend him! Thought it may be hard class but it was interesting and all the reading and work was interesting and not as bad as it may seem. If you can take a class with him, then go for it.

Think ethics might be boring? Think again. I never felt like skipping his class (monumental for me). Explains subject matter clearly and gives good, lucid examples to aid in your comprehension of the material. One of my favorite profs at GVSU EVER. I would recommend him to anyone in need of PHI 102.

Nice Guy. Knows his stuff. Can be intimidating at times but he is usually pretty open to what people have to say. Makes you think. Explains reading material in class and you usually get out early. Good examples and videos. You might have to write an Advanced Directive.

Real cool guy. I never thought I would find ethics so interesting. He definitely makes you think differently and look at things from a new prospective. I would definitely recommend taking him for ethics. As long as you pay attention, it'll all be good.
