DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE He is poor at explaining, very scatter brained, often repeats himself, very odd grading and hard quizzes and tests. (2 quizzes, 1 test, and final) Other than that, he is a great teacher.

Comment:
Quite scatter-brained, has poor handwriting and does not use the white-board space effectively. However, it is quite obvious that he understands that the material can be difficult and wants students to do well in his class, so he can be quite helpful. As long as you can get the hang of his teaching style, you'll be fine.

Possibly the worst teacher I've ever taken. Unfair and mistake laden grading mixed with horrible teaching abilities. Won't fix grading mistakes completely. The textbook wasn't horrible but it was used quite a bit. Avoid this class and teacher combo!

Dr. Slater knows his material very well and gives excellent lectures. He is approachable outside of class and quite helpful. His tests are very difficult, but he does grade on a curve.

Comment:
It was very difficult to take good notes in this class due to a combination of his poor handwriting, his failure to plan the use of the space on the white board effectively, and his tendency to move on without allowing any time to decipher and copy down what he has written. In general, lectures seemed off-the-cuff and disjointed. He tended to

Don't be suprised if your that hear Dr. Slater is not a good teacher. In some ways he is not. If you know how to manage his teaching style and be agressive with reading the textbook or take MA330 first, you could get an easy A. If you pay attention to what he covers in lecture and assigns as homework, you can almost predict the test and quizzes.

This guy is not good. He jumps around in his notes and he's not very clear. Instead of telling you how to work problems, he just works them. If you want to make an A, you better be a genius, otherwise you'll get a C. If you think you may have him, change teachers IMMEDIATELY.

This man was late giving grades back. He was not ready to give out a midterm grade on time. The class gets harder when you study the material for chapters 4 and 6. If you want an A or a B in Linear Algebra, avoid him.

He's a math genius. If you are also a math genius, you will love him and learn a lot. If you are not a math genius, you won't be able to understand a word he says and you will not do well. But remember what's on his tests, for you will see those exact questions on the Comprehensive Exam.

I took this professor because I didn't want Amin. Turns out, Amin would have been a better choice. His lectures are hard to follow, he talks to fast, and gets somewhat frustrated if you ask one too many question during office hours
