He makes doing assignments so easy because he gives you the best advice of how to do it in the first place. Super clear criteria and has very reasonable grading system. He makes you interested in the stuff you're learning. He's just a really cool guy. Would take his classes again.

Phil talked about not showering and having never owned a cellphone. After getting past his quirks you will realize he is an amazing teacher. His class progression makes so much sense. He is there to help in any way possible. Gives the clearest criteria possible. Literally do exactly what he says and you will get an A. Papers will write themselves.

Phil was awesome! he was so understanding, funny, and somehow managed to make humanities interesting and easy. He made our exams manageable and discussed everything that might come out in class before. He's also very friendly and supportive. Would definitely take his class again!

Had an excellent choice of different guest lecturers as well as having excellent and accessible lectures himself. Took this course to fill in some academic requirements and was more than pleasantly surprised. Any prof teaching Interdisciplinary Forums has seemed to be an excellent choice, Phil being no exception.

Nice teacher, but it's art school, we don't want become writers here, his mark is a little too harsh. Also there is no class discussion, only him talking, but i have to say he is very competent talking about his material. If you are not white, you may get offended, all the authors or poet he picked in class are all white, even the rapper, so....

Loves his material, engages students and promotes classroom discussion. Extremely relevant to contemporary culture, a must if interested in how 20th century history, culture and art function together. Don't take his class if you don't want to be challenged, but well worth the challenge.

Phil's class is 'The Phil Show'. It's all about how COOL he and his hippie philosophies are, with little room for student discussion. His lectures on writing were useless with no concrete advise. I found him hard to approach outside of class. His subject matter & lecture topics are pretty awesome though. Marking is fair and with great feedback.
