You have to know who said what and to whom. You have to actually read the books. If you stay and watch the foreign films, you get extra credit. His lectures were interesting but long. He does go off on tangents but they are entertaining. He really knows a lot of background to the movies he shows because he lived it. I would take him again.

Pease does not test you on what you've learned. He tests you on what you've memorized. I took him for his Lit & Film class. We had three tests that semester. We had to know who said what, who someone was speaking to or who someone was speaking about. I didn't learn about the literature. I learned an okay amount about the movies. I do not recommend.

as long as you do your readings you will be fine. he gives between 3-4 test, all are quotes from the readings. sometimes he will have you write a essay with a test but they are very easy. he is an older guy so he doesnt put up with talking, cell phones, or putting your head down, he will ask you to leave. no a difficult class as long as you read.

Professor Pease is one of the last great professors who actually teach their subject well. He walks you through each play and points out the important quotes to remember. His test are a little unconventional and tricky BUT if you READ THE PLAY AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE QUOTES HE POINTS OUT, the exam is easy.

he is rude, egotistical, and the most unpleasant man i have even had to endure for a class. I have a 3.8 gpa. I do my work. Regardless of that his class is dreadful and he should go off and degrade someone not paying for a true education. You will learn NOTHING from this man or his class.

Prof. Pease is an interesting person, but he could get long-winded at times. I had a hard time understanding what his stories had to do with the actual material. He would make an amazing History teacher or even Film History, I think. The format of the tests could be better and he could do a lot better with having more discussions about the books.

YOU MUST READ! His exams are quotes that you must match the author/character described/title to. Multiple choice format. Gives extra credit for watching foreign films after class. Has high expectations, but nothing ridiculous. Tells life stories to supplement the text. Super interesting guy! I would definitely take his class again, tho difficult.

Takes attendance everyday so you have to be there. Tests are somewhat easy. Have to read and does not like it when you come to class unprepared. If you need to you can take a power nap outside but do not sleep in his class. Extra credit possible if you watch movies.

Prof Pease was awesome! His class is basically a blast from his past. If you go to class and do the readings you're going to do great. You'll do even better if you talk with him like he's a person and not just your teacher.

He gives his life stories to help you understand the text. His test are multiple choice and you have to match quotes to authors so you must read and study hard! Though one test I studied for 5 hours and still flunked. Attendance is mandatory! Gives extra credit but you have to make a 91 in the class to make an A. =/?? Can get boring sometimes.

Dr. Pease was my favorite teacher in all my time at SHSU. I was a computer science major and still took 3 of his classes because he was so fascinating. I can GUARANTEE those that rated him bad are the ones who didn't read the book and wanted to just coast. Wake up people! This is YOUR education, YOUR future-don't waste it! Thanks so much Dr. Pease!

Dr. Pease was one of my most influential teachers. He's challenging and fair, which is hard to come by. You usually get professors who have given up on challenging anyone because no one rises to it, including these sobbing morons who've degraded him because they didn't get away with just reading the Spark Notes

Just say no! That is, unless you want to be bored to tears with his never-ending life stories that have nothing to do with the actual material. Be prepared for his tests as well, which drill you over the most obscure quotes instead of the deeper meanings and themes of the text. This man is pompous, crabby, and a terrible teacher.

I enjoyed his class even though I did not have a huge interest before taking it. His lectures are attention keeping and he tells what would have been dry and boring history in a text book in a way that makes it seem real and memorable. His tests are made up of quotes, so reading in his class is imperitive. If you respect him, he will repect you.

Horrible professor, extremely boring lectures. The exams are ridiculous, you have to match characters in a book with dialog, sometimes he gives you only one sentence. Exams are multiple choice, but you have to choose from all 20-30 characters in the book; and to memorize director, and actors from the films. Old man trying to keep his past alive.

Took him for American Lit till 1850 or whatever it was. You need to read the texts like twice in order to do great on his crazy tests. They are scantron with random quotes from the texts you have to match in many different ways like who said it, or to whom, or what text it was in etc. Despite this he was pretty interesting to listen to.

Ok some of these comments were posted a few years ago! I think since then Pease has gotten worse he is really moody and makes his tests (the format) unnecessarily difficult. The test wouldn't be so bad if he would make it normal format.. He is just very old and very grumpy
