As a freshman, Renee seemed to be the only professor that cared for me... she was like my only real friend and that's hard to find at Coastal. She went above and beyond to help me through Intro to Logic because I guess she could tell I was struggling academically, socially and mentally and to have a professor understand and guide me meant so much

Dr. Smith is one of the worst professors that I have had at Coastal. I took her class because I needed PHIL 110 to begin my minor. She did not reply to emails, being an online class it is outrageous.

Hardest teacher at coastal. ridiculous that she is allowed to teach an intro class like a graduate level class. she seems to always have a chip on her shoulder and hates the world. If you are in this class as a fresh. please get a new advisor because they have ruined your freshman year!

DO NOT take this class unless you enjoy spending 15 hours a week reading and writing philosophy. I am a senior and this is the most difficult 101 class I've ever taken by far, it is more like a 400 level class. There are so many assignments it is unreal. I will NEVER take another class from her.

Very hard professor. Unfair grader and terrible at explanations. She'll tell you you don't understand the content but do nothing to help. On written assignments, she will take points off if you leave out just one comma. Treats the course like it's a 300 level. Rude in her emails if you ask her anything. Do NOT take her.

In a sense she is one of the most helpful professors that i've ever had. Lots of homework but the tests are really easy. She'll even push the homework back a day if you email her. The only downside is the really expensive textbook. Its about $115 and you only need it for a online code.

Came into this class really excited about it, but ended up hating philosophy. I never knew philosophy could be so boring! I did alright in the class, but I didnt really enjoy it. I would say that it is slightly harder than average. My friends say Clark is a lot better than Smith and wayyyy more interesting.

I don't know what any of these bad reviews are talking about. She is an amazing teacher. Really cares about her students and will go out of her way to help. Philosophy is a very difficult subject to begin with but she makes it clear and easy to understand. If you read before class and show up for lectures and pay attention you will do well.

Dr. Smith is one of the most enthusiastic teachers I've had at Coastal and I am a senior. She's a bit tough in the sense that you do have to do the work.. you can't simply get an A for going, but the work isn't hard at all. I would definitely recommend her. She loves what she teaches and keeps you awake in class. She's pretty hot too.

I took this class for Maymester, not by choice, but because my other class got dropped. She seemed to be angry at me for joining the class late, when it was out of my control.is not good at explaining things, gives alot of blackboard tests, grades the written homework as if it were financial statements for a fortune 500 company. hardest 101 class ever!

I took this woman for PHIL 101. Yes, 101! She teaches her Intro class like a 300 level course. It is ridiculous that she is allowed to teach this way. It is too bad that all of these humanities professors think they're ish doesn't stink. I am happy to be a business major; I don't deal with these egotistic "academic" types frequently. DONT TAKE HER

Good teacher, really knows her stuff. She's fun and keeps you awake. But the class itself is hard. Read the chapters and pay attention and you'll be fine. Topic is hard to understand so she grades at her knowledge level.

I took this class online. Dr. Smith was helpful and understanding; but the website she used for part of the class was a piece of crap, meaning you could spend 2 hours doing a 30 minute assignment.

Smith is an entertaining teacher, however she teaches a 101 level like a 300 level. Class requires a lot of time and commitment to studying and reading. You have quizzes due everyday before class. Intense class, but entertaining professor.

GO TO CLASS...very important! Good prof but I would not reccomend her for 100 level classes because she's used to upper level classes and expects more from students. Do not take her if you are not willing to put in hours each week of reading and studying. Nice prof overall and is helpful when you need her.
