TAKE THIS CLASS! The professor is so nice, cute old man. We had one test, that if you studied what he told you, it was an easy A. 2, two-page papers... and optional 10 page or a power point on a any drug (I chose powerpoint, so easy presented for about 10 minutes) -- Very lenient guy.

This professor is a really nice guy and the workload isn't too much to handle. He gives you the option of writing a paper or doing a presentation on anything related to drugs or alcohol. I would recommend taking this class with this professor.

Took him for the 7am class. Awesome guy. Yea he does go off topic sometimes but that early in the morning thats fine, youre so sleepy its nice to be able to afford to doze off in small intervals. Was it an easy A? Yea, almost. One thing to mention, hes not an overbearing guy, hell take the class at a pace suited to you

Great teacher. I took this as a free elective and really enjoyed it. The class is interesting, but he can sometimes goes off about random stories of his family, etc. But it is a very easy class. He takes attendance but theres no real policy on how many classes you can miss. definitely take this class.

he's great! such a sweet guy. not sure how his attendance policy works since he doesn't have one but made us sign in the entire semester. he's certainly mastered his domain and the class was interesting. it was surprising that he wasn't a stereotypical old man--he didn't completely shoot down drug-use and hate younger generations. recommended!

He is a really sweet man. I took the 7am class so the material was fairly dry for 7am, but Im sure if I took a later class I would have loved it. The content was interesting and there were only 2 tests and a case study. Just show him that your interested in the class!

VERY sweet man, but kind of boring. There were 3 tests (short answer), an 8-10 pg research paper on any topic, and a case study on which you only have to write a small 2 pg paper. Easy A, and it helped change my ideas on drugs a bit.

These ratings make my scratch my head...How could you not like this guy?! He wants everyone to get an "A" and it is very easy to do so. Minimal work, fun class and an overall good guy. Definately recommended.

I don't understand some of these ratings. He's as nice as they come, and is EXTREMELY easy and fair. Yeah he talks about himself and his family a lot, but no big deal. Interesting class and ZERO stress. Take him.

Powers is a great professor no matter what anyone else says. The guy has a ton of years in the health profession and he really knows his stuff. He can be a tad bit boring yes, but in the end, you do learn something from him and he is a fair grader.

I agree, Powers is a total moron....he is very unfair with his grading, very subjective. His class is boring and have no type of structure. I would only recommend him to students who don't care about getting anything out of class.
