Decent discussion instructor, gives good hints/suggestions how to do things. Do yourself a favor: do the POGIL worksheets before the class so you can leave early (hint: copy paste a question into Google... the answer keys are online). Unfortunately only does the 8am classes so it still stinks taking him. Go though, it's 5% of the chem lecture grade

Very clear teacher. The tests are not that difficult and the practice tests that he posts are EXTREMELY helpful. He makes it clear what you need to know.

Hard grader. Barely scaled at the end even though the grades students got were not good at all! He is so smart and handsome though but that does not do anything with getting a good grade!

His chem discussions are really helpful as long as you put in some effort. He is very good at explaining concepts if you ask him. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, even if it seems stupid. He'll give you full credit for discussion as long as you try!

Had him for discussion. He explained everything in layman's terms which is great if your lecture prof. doesn't. You need to pay attention and apply yourself and you can really understand the material.

Um... i've yet to pass a test. They are easy but u really need to gage yourself.Class is extremely boring! I don't like the overhead method. Do the hw, go to reviews and study like it's your life! The lecture notes and overheads are your best friend! Tests are exactly like study guide and tests but like I said, time is an issue so, time yourself!

Sometimes I would be sitting in class, and want to reach for my pen and just stab my self because that would be more fun than sitting there listening to him speak about nothing. One of the worst courses I have ever had to take, and that is definitly saying something; I think once I had the Devil himself teaching me. Please save yourself and don't

Eventhough I got a D for this class, I still loved it. i like the professor and the way how he teaches it. The reason why i got D is b/c i didn't try to understand chemistry but overall this professor did a very good job on teaching it. Recommended!!

I was worried about how 104 would go after suffering through 103 with Sevian...Carter restored my faith in the chem. department. He was clear, organized and I never had a problem asking a question. And I even got an A!!

Professor Carter is without a doubt the most organized professor I've ever come across. Articulate, clear, knowledgable and concise, he teaches the class well. It's not the easiest class, but do all of the homework problems again to prepare for the exams and you should be fine.

Dr. Carter is a very concise and articulate professor. He has a way of depictiing relative information that makes my insides burn. When he draws molecules or follows through on equations I want to screem but I keep it inside. Once, he showed me his bomb calorimeter in his office. I cried after he didn't call me.I would recomend his course. Amazing!

I had a hard time in this class and hardly recieved support from him. I liked his occasional sense of humor and his lab demonstrations in class, but he is very uncommunative with his students (a huge minus on the part of professors) and seems only concerned with chemistry as if that's all that he cares about. He seems unconcerned about us.
