This guy was so arrogant. It was hard to get past his teaching style enough to learn anything. Every other journalism professor I had at MSU was amazing, but you couldnt pay me enough to take a class with him again.

Prof. Hollander IS the Journalism Dept. at MSU. He is an excellent teacher. He expects, but rewards, effort, and you can't help but come out of his class as a better writer because of it. You'll learn more in his class than you'll learn in 99% of your other classes at MSU, because he cares, and because he takes the time to teach. Great class.

Professor Hollander gives you your tuition's worth. If you want a good Journalism course and really want to learn, take a class with him. You will learn more in his class than you will in the rest of the Journalism program. He respects effort and puts more effort back into feedback than students put into the initial writing. He cares. It shows.

Class is not easy and he will push you to do your absolute best as he expects nothing less. 100% worth taking if you want to work hard, learn a lot and feel accomplished in the end.

Attendance is mandatory and he's a difficult grader, but if you are a dedicated student you will find his class worthwhile. Of all the classes I've taken at MSU, I've learned the most from this one. He will take a genuine interest in your work to help you become a better writer/reporter if you're up for the challenge.

in the same class period he would criticize and praise students for doing THE EXACT SAME THING. my armchair psycho analysis says this guy has MAJOR control issues and takes them out in class. it's not about learning so much as doing what he wants you to. brought in book he wrote about trains for no real reason. arrogant and contradictory.

Nice guy, but class is SO unreasonable! Short quizzes/tests make it difficult to pass. 3 questions wrong & you're down to a B! Docks points on articles for things unknown. Lectures unclear and all over the place. I didn't learn a thing. Hoping I will continue with Journalism minor even if this prof ruined it for me.

Professor Hollander is a great teacher who is very passionate about writing. Like any other English teacher, you must adjust to his writing style in order to be successful. Five non fiction essays. Hard to please sometimes. He hates cliché's so truly write originally. Attendance is mandatory, but you'll enjoy coming. I recommend him.

GREAT PROFESSOR! He's funny, silly, and you look forward in attending his class. He looks like a young version of Dustin Hoffman. Easy grader, tough work-load, but a sweet-genuine guy. He's HUGE on group work, and class discussion. Advice= "Suck up" in his class, he'll love it! Ex- Offer to wash his board and you'll be his fav student! Took him 3x!
