Comment:

a video, DB, voicethread and essay for almost every unit. I did great on all assignments then did bad on all tests. The tests dont match the assignments. The essays expect you to to write 600+ words on a single sentence quote. Not a terrible teacher but not the best. You CANNOT look up terms in the book and skim that section. You have to read it.

I was a F2F student but switched online for COVID-19. She wasnt clear on exams and only gave them on weekends which sucked. She was also really rude. She told me on all my extra credit that I was doing great and then gave me a C- on my final and commented that I obviously dont know how to read a code book or understand whats going on.

At the beginning of the semester, she informed us that this would be the hardest class out of all criminal justice classes. However, she consistently gave no support when asked for help.

Comment:

I was taking two face to face classes with Ms. Walsh, and due to COVID-19, they were moved to online. Unfortunately, she did a poor job in informing former F2F what was required of them, and what is expected to be done. The directions on the midterm were extremely vague, and she gave me a 0/750 on it. Id recommend avoiding her if possible.

Ruth is a very well rounded teacher. She is always willing to help you in anyway you need if you are willing to put the work in. You must show up to class to pass. Participation, always paying attention, and having a good attitude with her goes along way.

Very nice lady, if you skip class, you will NOT pass. Her policy is solely show up every day and participate in class discussions and shell at least give you a C, which transfers to a university anyway. Make her mad and shell be your worst enemy. Be respectful and youll have a good time, very nice lady once you earn your stripes w/her

I took this class online, syllabus was not correct or followed. She failed me on my exams but offered no feedback or reasoning even when I asked so I could improve. She is rude, and is not clear on comments, if you ask for clarification, she is more rude. Never, ever will take another class with her, I recommend you don't either unless you want to

I was struggling a little bit in this class so I asked if we could meet up on her free time. Take note that the first email she sent out to the class stated, "Willing to meet up or talk if help needed." She failed me on every exam and would not explain the reasoning behind my answers being wrong. She was rude and was not a good, helpful teacher.

Fair professor, fair grader. Her lectures skim what's in the textbook, must do readings before class and for exams. Pop videos with writing assignments. Total of 13 writing assignments, you can drop the 3 lowest. She uses news articles that are 10+ years old; would be very easy to use current events for examples. Very informative.

Ruth is very knowledgeable on the topic of Ethics. Make sure you listen to what her question is on the movies you watch. She will tell you exactly what will be on quizzes just make sure you understand it not just memorize it.

I had Ruth for about 60% of my criminal justice classes, I picked this one to review because it was/is probably the best course that I have ever taken. She is an amazing teacher with real world experience in multiple fields, assigns homework occasionally. Many in class assignments, that if you do well you will pass the test. Highly recommend.

Great teacher! Lots of videos and movies! Very easy 10-12 writing assignments and 4 exams, just go to class. She gives feedback and simply wants you to participate in the class discussions, loves your opinions on the subject matter, take notes and do the readings. I would take another class taught by her.

Comment:

Great teacher. If you pay attention, there shouldn't be a problem. Obviously the people who ranked her low, put no effort into passing her classes. I've taken her for Ethics, Juvenile, and evidence/procedures. Would recommend her for people actually wanting an education.

Ruth was a horrible teacher! Not only are all of her tests essays, but she is a VERY harsh grader! She is very conservative and very confusing! Also, to get extra credit in her class, you have to go to court! Not a good class to go to if you want an A.

I loved her! She is an excellent teacher!! The class is basically discussions & 10-14 essays. You watch a lot of movies on the material & they are very interesting. She has a wide range of experiences that helps with learning the material. She was a cop, lawyer, & correctional officer.

I'm in her ethics class. Very opinionated, but she wants you to speak your mind against her views. Everyone who says her hw/tests are hard probably haven't attempted to do them. All the writing assignments are super easy- she just scans over them- and there are only 2-3 tests (my 2 have both been take homes)

She has strong views that she expresses all the time. If you don't agree with her then she will argue with you until you just give up. She is a ok teacher but there is a lot of essays.
