Comment:
His class is relatively easier than other pchem class. He is a very slow talker so his lecture is pretty long. The lecture is not that helpful since you can read everything from the book. But Dr. Asher is very accessible and patient to explain problems both in lecture and in Office Hour. Also hw are graded base on completion so it's not that bad.

He write this confusing compendium of notes that does not use standard notation. He uses a reference book for class, meaning all you see are diagrams for different kind of instruments and circuitry. Grading is non-standardized since I write the exact same answer as the exam key and still get points docked.

Very bright person, definitely knows about spectroscopy. He is however one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He gives horrible notes and his tests are impossible. He his a very nice man and can be helpful at office hours. I would recommend someone else though, unless you only care about spectroscopy

I liked Dr. Asher and loved PChem 1. He enjoyed teaching and was an overall nice guy. He even let students choose what chapters they wanted to cover towards the end. I found his tests to be rather easy for a Physical Chemistry course. I would recommend him for sure.

Really excited about teaching, wants to help students understand. At times he operates at a higher level than most of the students but is always willing to help and explain concepts again.

Comment:
If you have to take Instrumental Analysis, DO NOT TAKE IT WITH SANDY ASHER! He missed 13 lectures throughout the semester and had his Russian post doc teach them instead. He was not clear, his exams covered material that was not covered in lecture.
