I am shocked this teacher even has a 3.7 rating on here! Sharon Kagan is an absolute nightmare! I wish someone would have warned me before taking her class. She should not be teaching at all. Inconsistent w feedback, moody, rude, disrespectful & not professional at all, she lets her personal life interfere w her teaching. I dont recommend this clas

If you're looking for an easy class - don't take this class. This class is for students who are serious. There's reading and a lot of projects. This was one class that changed my life in a good way. She is an amazing professor. I highly recommend taking this class!

Incredible class, seriously. If you are interested in art or even just creative expression in any form take this class. If you don't care and are just looking for a GE, skip it. I would take this class again if I could, it's that valuable. Sharon is an incredible teacher, and really cares about you and the work you are making. Awesome.

Not going to lie, very hard class but in a good way. She can see your potential at whatever level you are and she works with it. She is a very fair grader as long as you put effort. Very organized and wants you to learn. Tells you like it is in a respectful manner. Glad I took her class.

Be warned - this isn't an easy class with little homework. This class takes tons of work to get an A. With that being said, Sharon is a really great professor. From week to week, she tells you exactly what you need to do to improve. She grades on attendance and improvement for the most part, so it doesn't matter if you're innately talented or not.

Sharon seems to really care how well you do in the class. She helps you make the best drawings that you can, but there are so many ways to fail the class! no portfolio, bad attendance, not taking (the one page) final, no final project. If you do all of the above you'll get a grade on that, don't do it, get an F in the class, not just on that part.

She is very encouraging but its not really an art class but more art therapy. She like students that are broken and she can fix using art. If you want to take a class where you are challenged to create interesting work and can receive constructive criticism this isn't the class.

Sharon is really inspiring. you do have to do all your projects in order to get a good grade. she is really nice and tells you what she wants to see from the start of the semester. grade is based on your progress. take Sharon for 20A or any other art class she might be teaching.

She helps you through any difficulties you have. All she asks is that you attend class and do the homework. She does not grade on your talent, but rather on how much you have learned since the beginning of class. Since it is a beginners class this is easy because you learn all the basics that change your art rapidly. Thanks Sharon!

I was promised an A if I completed my portfolio, which I did, I still only got a B, she said all my work in the portfolio was A material, still I only got a B, the entire class INCL the teacher agreed my final drawing was the best in the class; an A drawing, still I only got a B, I had 4 absences that's why I only got a B even tho I was worth an A

I'm surprised to see negative comments here for Sharon. ART34 is all about challenging your beliefs, if you are not open minded then don't take this class. I found Sharon to be an excellent guide on this journey of self discovery. Great class, great teacher - thank you SMC. A+++

I'm shocked at the blue face rating (rather than happy face). Yes, her classes are hard and you're expected to work and read and write papers about art. This is an excellent, amazing class for art students, and is very theoretical as well as hands-on. Newbies to art may have a hard time with it, but this class opens new doors and perspectives. A+
