Comment:

This class was easy, however you need to participate in order to get credit or else you won't get the grade you want. I really enjoyed learning about new religions. I would take him again despite all the work.

He grades you on two tests only midterm and final. Supposively he grades on attendance,but in the end it didn't matter. Tests are short answer only. Out of 12 questions he makes you pick 10 to answer. If you're going to take this class take pictures of his slides be in class take notes optional-record all lectures

He is very sarcastic and his humor is dry, that's why I think not many people understand him. He is a great teacher, he made it interesting and the only thing due were a couple tests and a paper.

I took this class online. The class has only 4 Modules and 3 tests. Each week you are to post a 500 word post in the discussion board and post a 500 word response to another person. He is VERY BAD at communicating. Doesn't really help when needed at all. He also is a very hard grader and doesn't give A's. Don't slack off on module postings

The grade was based off of a midterm and final. No classwork, no homework, just an essay about an experience you had. All we did in class was lecture and he is awfully rude and does not care at all. You will never know what your grade is and tells you to not take notes because its not on the test when it is. DONT TAKE THE CLASS

Fairly easy class and interesting. Did not use book at all. Everything was from lecture so you cannot miss not one class unless you have a friend or classmate that is willing to let you use their notes and they are good notes.

Not sure why some people are complaining! I got B's on most of the tests but I made excellent posts and wrote a good paper and ended up with an A in the class. I took it online over the summer and it was clear cut and known what was expected to be done! just follow instructions NOT HARD AT ALL!! would take another class with him. he curves too.

Comment:

Took his class online during summer session and enjoyed it. Basically write 500 word discussion posts and take 3 exams (he e-mails study guide). Also attend a religious service other than your own to write about. Very worthwhile and highly recommend.

Unique setup. Your grade consists mainly of weekly discussion board postings, a few exams, and a term paper (no homework). He grades harder than your average teacher, because he really does NOT believe in a "perfect" score. You're graded on an EXTREME curve, so take the class if you're okay with not really knowing your grade until the end.

I took him at DVC San Ramon. He was a great speech professor. Told us exactly what he wanted and I believe he graded based on our own improvement instead of comparing us to each other. I learned a lot about public speaking and am way better at it now. Great class. I took it over the summer so it may be different but we never used the textbook.

He grades completely holistically and does not believe that any work is perfect, therefore he never gives anything full credit. He also does not use the standard grading system (100-90=A, 89-80=B etc.) so it's impossible to know what grade you're earning in his class. He is also very condescending and treats students as if they are idiots.

DO NOT take this guy. Deceiving class syllabus and outline. No structure just goes on a whim. Tests are graded hard, while they focus on minute details. Rambles and allows himself and others to venture WAY off topic. Most importantly, he is highly unapprochable and cares ZERO about your success. Also, know the bible inside and out or your done.

Great teacher, very interested in his subject matter. Doesn't bother with busy work, just lectures and you can take notes. 2 exams during the semester, curved grading. I did very well but many students seemed to have trouble. Do not take this class if you are of the STRONG belief that EVERY WORD IN THE BIBLE IS GOD'S WORD AND MUST BE TRUE

I don't think he should be teaching world religion. He is a Christian pastor with a degree from a Bible college. He is disrespectful about MANY religions (smirks, etc) and he gives wildly inaccurate information about most of them. Questions on his test are so wrong they are contradicted even by his own text. But, if you agree with him, you get an A

Well, this subject is not too difficult, but the instruction was terrible. He does not respond to emails and is easy to criticize those who speak their mind. Not an approachable instructor and he did not grade as he initially stated he would on a curve. Very deceiving and perhaps biased.

Only take him if you are an independent learner. He is not a bad teacher, but he leaves a lot up to you.
