He's a fantastic professor. I learnt a lot from him. He strokes his beard sometimes when he ponders ideas and it's just the cutest thing!

BEST COURSE EVER! the first few weeks were intimidating but as soon as we got through the beginning it became a chill discussion class everyday. YOU MUST DO ALL READINGS AND TALK IN CLASS! if you go to most classes and participate that is an easy 20% and there are 2 outlines that must be done sufficiently (another easy 20%) there are only 2 essays

Menn is a great guy, he's really socially awkward and can be hard to get talking, but if you show an interest in something he's concerned about he really opens up. He also genuinely wants his students to do well and to understand the material.

Comment:
Prof Menn was my teacher in a ancient greek philo class. He also supervised my honors thesis in philosophy and was absolutely unhelpful. I actually had to go to other teachers in other departments to get help and feedback regarding my research. He seemed absolutely unintersted in what I was learning

This guy is incredible. Stained clothes, unwashed hair, big beard, in his office 'til 9 at night. Unpersonable, but it's understandable given that he seems to live philosophy. Don't be intimidated, it's worth taking this class, he'll make you interested. Mandatory attendence, though.

lordy does this man love greek philosophy...i don't dispute though that he is extremely intelligent and is well-prepared for class...if you keep up with the readings and attend lectures, you will learn alot...on the downside though lectures are excruciatingly boring

Simply said: Menn is the sharpest prof in McGill philoso. Better yet, he actually prepares in details for each class. Not to be taken unless one is prepared to work. Also, Menn is not someone who will become your big buddy.

Scary prof with his beard and his fast talking. His classes are very thourough and professional. Just have to be awake and smart, and you'll see he's one of the best professors at mcgill. Though be prepared before class.
