Comment:

I have had her for 5 semesters and can say the opposite of most on here. She can easily break tension in the room by personal stories, but keeps it short. Also, she will gladly go over basic concepts with you. Those who say the opposite tend to not be very good students anyways. Prepare to be challenged and don't be lazy.

I've had Dr. Worth for 271,272, and will have her for 273. She is a really awesome lady and is passionate about what she does. She keeps the class from being boring with breaking the ice and talking about interesting topics from time to time. The way she explains math has made me love math. She's the best math prof i've ever had.

Dr. Worth is the best mathematics professor I've had in recent years. Her test are long but they are definitely doable. She teaches well and if you don't understand her you really need to talk to her. She is a good listener and she is has open office hours.

Listen here, Dr. Worth is a great professor. I was like most of the students who think she is a bad professor, but I was wrong. She is tough, but fair. If you go to her and ask her a question, she will explain it to you. Tell jokes too. She will challenge you, be prepared.

I like math, I'm pretty good at it too. Dr. Worth had a bad attitude the entire semester. She was far from encouraging and unless she likes you, she won't help you. She will assume the help for others helped you. She is kind on grading but I think its so students wont complain. God help you if you have a different learning style than she does.

Comment:

If you take her, be prepared to fly through her notes. She knows what to do, and expects you to do mathematical work as fast as she does. She talks about her personal life too much in class, which causes her to speed up her notes. Don't try to copy the notes down in class, it's impossible. I wouldn't take her if there was another professor.

Useless. Absolutely useless. Have taught myself every part of the class because her lectures give you nothing. Never responds to emails. Will tell you her reply in class the next day, which is usually too late. When I asked for help, she told me to look at the notes - which are useless. Lectures are incoherent ramble to me. Calculus is a nightmare.

She loves when people ask questions. Go to office hours if you need help. Sometimes she'll turn you away, but it's only if she's super busy. She'll normally respond pretty quick to emails. She does talk about her husband, but only to give an example of someone who uses math everyday. Don't be a slacker in her class and you should be fine.

Easily the worst instructor I have encountered at SCC. She assumes the class knows all kinds of things about calculus and doesn't teach basic concepts, saying that we learned it elsewhere already. The only reason I am passing is because of my tutor and the homework in the book. Her class is nothing but senseless rambling to me. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I had her for 3 classes. If you don't like her its because you don't like math, or you EXPECT easy ways out. I am now a student at a four year college and thank God every day for having her. She challenges you. Her getting off subject, its funny, and she keeps the class attentive instead of boring lectures. I love her and still keep in touch.

Her (paid for) time would better serve the students if she kept her family stories and non-math related ventings to a minimum during class. Abandoning the class to do other things is not acceptable. That is why I commented. We can socialize in our own time; a 15 minute burst of teaching at the end does not justify a 4 hour class. And tardiness!

pros: attractive, sense of humor, good grasp of her subject, tries to teach how to think (not just do by rote) cons: digresses onto subjects about herself, inundates students with her vast knowledge rather than really connecting with them, fixation on grandeur(?) final analysis: like her, but may be better suited to administration(?)
