LOTS of reading - upwards of 150 per night. Despite the course name, you only read 2 books by Austen. Only 2 papers and 2 tests, but they are really the only grades that go in. He also rambles and goes off on unimportant tangents a lot. Has a knack for making fun of students who get something wrong.

Taylor Corse is a far superiority instructor than anyone else at ASU. His class is difficult, but it's doable. You read 5 huge 18th century novels, some boring, not easy reads. There are only 2 test & 2 papers due but they are difficult. He a typical liberal artsy teacher who is compassionate and kind. Reading 50+ pages daily btw. Still A- overall

This class was very simple. There is a good amount of reading but the texts were really interesting and entertaining so it wasn't bad. No reading quizes. Show up to class and listen because participation is worth 10% of your grade. The rest depends on the 5 essays, which he grades VERY generously. Didn't get anything lower than a B on any of them.

Dr. Corse has a real passion for the literature he teaches. His speeches can seem a little long at times, but if you actually listen instead of tune out, it all pertains to what you're reading.

Good professor, passionate about literature. The only problem is he issues a LOT of reading for the semester. I think the course would be more beneficial if he cut out some of the material so he could focus more on particular themes or books. Felt rushed at times.

I took Eng 221 with Prof Corse online (session B). There was a LOT of reading, but assignments were consistent and mostly written. 6 essays and four paragraphs per week. As long as you are literate and do your work, you'll pass this class, no problem.

Quick grading assignments. Provides feedback fairly quickly. Just do the reading, and you'll do fine in the papers and quizzes. The final is mostly short essays (400-500 words)

Very chill guy, lectures are easy and he really just talks at you for a good 40 minutes of the class period. Attendance is helpful because he gives out periodic quizes, and as long as you know the general plots, you'll do fine. Go to his office hours if you have trouble with the papers, it helps a lot.

Class is easy, even if you didn't do the readings. As long as you know general plots, quizzes are super easy and he often helps while taking the quiz. He's not always very helpful with feedback and tends to be forgetful, but he still has somewhat interesting lectures. Be sure to sit in the front, though, because he speaks very quietly.

Teacher is friendly in class but very strict when you meet with him. Will not remember you after one semester. Pop quizzes throughout the semester and when the texts have multiple stories it gets confusing. Very specific on how he does things and depending on you're reading loads in other classes it could be rather difficult. Be careful.

It's true, he can be boring at times. However, he has a cool sense of humor, and he loves the plays for what they are - he doesn't spend class time attacking the author, like many English professors do. There is a lot of reading, but the grading system is very easy. I just finished the class and I expect an A+.

I thought the class would be really interesting (read The Iliad, The Odyssey, etc), but his classes are really boring. He just talks the whole time, very little interactions with the students, making what could be really awesome discussions into boring rants. He knows his stuff, but is not very captivating.

Fairly interesting topic, but unless you already familiar with the time periods he can be a little difficult to follow. He really knows his stuff, but if you have no interest in the material - be prepared to be bored. Essays fairly easy - he was always available for help. Exams simple if read the material and reviewed lightly before.

Professor Corse is amazing! He grades super easy as long as you keep to the subject and he gives you really helpful advice for tests and papers. He is always willing to help and answers your questions promptly. I would recommend him to anyone. One of my favorite professors by far.

I liked this course, maybe because I like the subject. Every day in class he just summarized and went over the readings from the night before. All you need to to to get an A is do the readings because that's where all the test questions come from. I liked him - funny and sometimes inappropriate in a funny way.

very knowledgable and can answer any question on greek mythology, but he sometimes chooses strange discussion topics and it's hard to understand how it relates to test material. the midterm wasn't like he said it'd be, it was free answer and he gave points as long as he could tell you read. he seemsnervous in front class, often hard to pay attentio

In Corse's class, you will only learn if you apply yourself. While he's not the most interesting or animated teacher, he is still very knowledgable and extremely helpful outside of class. It seems that students forget that they go to school to learn, not to be entertained.
