Best math professor I've ever had; the tests are really tough and he expects a lot from you, but he knows the material inside and out, and you can see him in office hours and after class for any questions you have. He also gives a ton of extra credit, and the lectures are funny and really informative. You'll definitely learn a lot from his class.

He's SUPER hard! don't take him! He barely gives credits to students! If you care about your GPA and school, DON'T TAKE HIM!!He gives two quizs per week, but only counts for 10%. Once you did bad on one of the tests, you should considerate dropping it!BE PREPARED, he won't let you pass easily. There's other good and nice professor at PCC,take them.

I took math 55 with Dr. Wang in the previous fall and he was pretty lenient in grading. He saw that everyone was struggling with a horrendous laplace trans. and he just gave everyone credit for it :) Besides that he's pretty clear and gives EC to boot.

If there is anything that adults respect out of young students, it is effort. He is a fair grader and likes hard working and smart students. Like many other professors, he will give you the higher grade if you are on the border line and have shown him that you work hard and know the fundamental concepts. Spring11 Math 5C is the best class he taught

Take the class if you're a human calculator(scntific calcs not allowed during tests) and don't require that much time or paper space during a test;you'll do great in his class!His tests miss the point; they are more an exercise in arithmetic and hairy algebra.A lot of "hand waving" (skipping) during lecture, no depth, no proofs.All about the tests!

Comment:

Halfway through the semester, getting over 100%. I won't say it's an easy class by no means, it's multivariable calculus, it's to be expected. But it's easy to study for his tests, he never asks anything impossible or that you didn't go over doing homework. Crystal clear lectures. I recommend Dr. Wang to everyone.

You're not supposed to study much from quizzes nor are they supposed to resemble test level difficulty - they're meant to be fundamental. Why don't you go do some real studyin' on the textbook and learn concepts from each problem you do. Don't whine after receiving a bad grade if you didn't study hard or smart enough. College is for mature people!

I turned in almost all the homework. I tried and tried during every test. It was all pointless. Don't bother studying for the test using the quizzes, because that's completely useless. He throws specific curve balls, really difficult questions, no where near the quiz. HW and quizzes 10% test a whopping 60% and Final 30% I attended every class too.

If you look at the previous favorable reviews you'll notice they have many similarities in terms of language and sentence structure. I think the same person is giving him good reviews over and over. My experience was that I did poorly in this class, despite my best efforts, and yet was able to do well in the following Calc class.

He was an awesome teacher, knowing Math pretty well. All he tried to do is to help students go through the class and get a good grade. He was willing to help students and show his best to explain clearly. people did not get a good grade should blame themselves not the teacher.

One of the good choices for math 5A. He teaches good. Hw load is totally okay (only 5 problems per session) and tests are very doable. but must study hard in his class b/c tats all he wants from students. Not an EASY A but if you try n not slack off, Guranteed A . Thanks Dr. Wang

Dr. Wang is a great prof. I was a lil intimidated by his previous ratings and how he seemed to be harsh in the beginning of the semester, but he likes it when the whole class is working hard and earning good grades. Spring 09 class didnt perform up to his expectation so he was a lil upset.Tests are okay and quizzes are from hws.Practice makes an A

okay lecture, okay tests(not so hard nor easy), hard final, quiz everyweek 5% , hws collected everyweek 5%, 4 tests( 15% each consist most of hw problems and examples, not guaranteed for droppin lowest score,must do well on 30%final (possibly an A) to get the lowest score dropped, overall not very hard, but no many pplz make it till de end.u decide

Comment:

Smart, but not a good teacher. He complained aloud several times that this is too low a class for him to be teaching and I agree. I watched friends who had done well in previous math classes, and liked the subject, and worked at it, change their majors and lower their transfer expectations. I think about 10 of the original 35 passed. Demoralizing.

I feel that it's a huge gap between math 9 and 5A. His lectures are sometimes great and sometimes okay. I studied pretty hard in his class n earned my well-deserved A. As long as you do all the hws and study all examples, you will get good grades :] Sum tips: Final will be harder than regular tests so if possible, make sure you get an A b4 final!
