He is very particular, very organized. He gives you everything up front and expects you to stay on top of your work yourself. He will give you everything you need to pass the class but you have to put in the work to actually do well. He's a fun character but beware of his pop quizzes.

MEEN 230 is a 2-part class in one semester. Look at 1-2 examples before you go to class and complete the homework, do this and you're guaranteed a solid B. Office hours are good for help with the homework (10-11 problems). They prepare you for the short quizzes each week. Don't be afraid to ask questions, it makes the difference b/w a B and an A.

Weekly readings from the book are crucial. Throws pop quizzes at anytime so you must study. Homework is generally easy. Attendance matters a lot when finals come around. You cannot make up in class assignments without a note. No tests besides midterm and final. Solid choice, just stay on top of the reading!

I didn't really like Alford because of his attitude. He was rude at times & disrespectful. However, he does have good knowledge of the material and knows how to teach it in different ways to the class. You MUST BE ON TIME TO CLASS because he starts on the dot & you can get extra credit for good attendance. This class is passed through groupme... ;)

Professor Alford is a great professor. He is very knowledgeable about the engineering field and explains each topic very well. He does not simply give answers to you but he will put you in the right direction. There are A LOT of pop quizzes and you will need to read in order to pass them. There will be a semester project and tests are not hard.

Alford is a great teacher. As long as you read what he assigns class will be a breeze. It is important to stay on top of his assignments and readings because he does do random pop quizzes, so prepare. Also, take advantage of his office hours, it allows you to develop a relationship with him! Very good dude.

Professor Alford is a wonderful teacher. He believes in students and is willing to help if asked. He loves pop quizzes, though. Be sure to read and participate in class to avoid them. He also provides plenty extra credit opportunities to help you grade. I highly recommend him for GEEN100.

He's a great person and means well. He loves pop quizzes, read the material before class and prepare to participate because if class is unprepared he will give out a quiz. I wouldn't say the material is hard but if you don't put your all in it, it will become tough. You will have several class projects. Gives out curves though if he sees potiential

Very difficult teacher to deal with. The very first week of class assigned homework but wouldn't tell us that to do. It was an unspoken homework assignment and everyone started the class with a zero. He is very unclear about what he wants and he doesn't teach the material well.

He sets the tone of the course early on and its up to you to keep up. He assigns a reading assignment and expects you to read; if you don't he will throw out a pop quiz. Feeds off of class participation/involvement. Bottom line... do well on quizzes, read, and come to class. I got an A

Alford will not exactly tell you what he wants in regards to his assignments/projects. He has an abrasive personality but I think he means well overall. He will give you opportunity for extra credit and he does pop quizzes pretty often.

I struggled in his class so much that I thought I was going to fail. I literally was between an F and a D most of the semester mostly because I never read the book. Pop quizzes are very frequent in his class and attendance and participation is a must to pass. He showed me mercy and I barely passed with a low c.

Somewhere in this world there's a quality teacher who's caring, attentive, respectful to others, articulate and engaging. However, this professor is None of these things. Keep your head down and take a POP quiz, every day, and you might survive a terrible class and a very poor instructor.

I really liked this class. I got more from this class than any other class this semester. He is very clear and doesn't want you to just regurgitate information. There are a lot of quizzes and assignments, more than the 2 credit hours worth, but...this class is your gateway to engineering, so he is basically teaching you how to work. I got an A.

Very cool guy, especially out of class. Has a definite schedule for class, and does not like for it to be interrupted. Read the text, show up for class, pay attention, and do the homework and you will do fine.
