Comment:
Professor Hastings is very forgetful and often repeats herself a lot. Our grade was based on 3 test and sometimes the test don't align to the readings. I think the material in this class is very interesting though, and Hastings is very passionate about it. She is such a sweet, caring lady. Usually a big class.

Comment:
Dr. Hastings is SUPER passionate about the material but she's a bit forgetful and often repetitive in lectures. She often gets sidetracked which makes lectures a bit dull and slow. We also got really far off the syllabus which made keeping up with the reading a bit difficult. Tests were often confusing and drawn verbatim from the readings.

Comment:
Professor Hastings is such a sweet lady, however, the material covered vs what are on the tests do not always match up. Lots of reading, a couple (in-class) films, and discussions. If you want a funny story, ask her how she got arrested! She is a funny woman, just not necessarily the best class.

Comment:
Anne is a sweet person, but her lectures are very confusing and misleading. She has lapses in her memory and is not really clear about the format of her tests, the material on the syllabus versus the material actually covered, and she tends to snap.

Comment:
Anne is not the best professor but a great person. Her class can be very life changing and gave me so many new perspectives but some material (movies, not the text) can be a bit outdated and boring. Overall she is passionate but her lectures lack enthusiasm and excitement. Tests are a bit difficult and 3 exams determine your final grade.

Comment:
The class was a huge waste of time. She thinks that a lot of the subject material is revolutionary. While it is important, I wish that she was more coherent in her lectures. No amount of engagement in her discussions, time spent doing readings, or investment into the material will help you on the tests. Get your credits from somewhere else. Avoid.

Anne was one of the sweetest professors. Class was interesting and never boring to me. Grades are based on about 4 tests only. She doesn't round final grades. The class is basically common sense. Tests are easy, but sometimes she words questions weirdly/some are opinionated so just ask her if you're unclear. Class watching videos and reading.

One of the worst professors I have ever had. Lectures are her reading off of a piece of paper which she refuses to share with us because she wants class attendance. Test are the most ridiculous things- they are completely subjective and often wrong. She also does not respond to email at all- I emailed 5 times over the course of the semester with no

I personally loved Professor Hastings, but like many others have said, her lectures are pretty redundant. However, her exams (which are 90% of the final grade) are relatively simple and straightforward. Just go to class and take good notes and you'll be good. I will definitely be taking another one of her classes!

As a person, Anne is great. Definitely one of the nicest professors I've had. As a lecturer, however, I would look for another person to learn from. Exams are very subjective, and lectures are very repetitive. I can't say that she taught anything or cleared any questions from the readings in class to be honest.

Anne is one of my favorite people that I've met over the course of my first semester at UNC, however, I cannot say the same thing about her as a professor. Lectures were redundant to say the least, and 100% of my grade came from 3 exams. To me, reading was not an issue as I found the course material to be fascinating. Make sure you study!!!

Nice professor, class isn't hard, a lot of reading the assigned material, and the tests come from the assigned books.

Comment:
Sweet grandma archetype. Seems to really care about her students and lectures are compelling if you feel the subject of the class is important (which you should). Tests are multiple choice, fill in the blank, and some matching but if you don't at least cram the readings you might be in a tough spot. A lot of the lectures are class discussions.

Anne is super sweet and nice, but is very one sided and it is important to know HER opinion on subjects. Her tests are basically small details from the readings and her opinions, which make choosing a definite answer tough. She doesn't give notes and lectures are a waste of time. Essays are easy and in class, but you must be prepared.

Really nice lady. Passionate about her field. Long lectures, expect to write papers. Reading is necessary. Definitely cannot B.S. your way through without reading a single page. Exam and essay questions come 100% from the readings. Participate, ask questions, share stories to make the time to go by. The class is very long and can be very boring.

Dr. Hastings is a nice lady. The class itself is interesting and so are the readings. It was an easy class but she frequently went off topic, her lectures were repetitive, she seemed to forgot that she already talked about something and would repeat it the next class. Her tests are very opinionated, making the "true" and "false" section difficult.

Confusing assignments and papers. Syllabus and rubrics are contradictory and unclear. Overall though I rarely went to class and crammed the night before tests and got a B.

Comment:
Anne Hastings, in my opinion, should not be employed by UNC. She constantly commits logical fallacies during class. Once lamenting the fact that her husband makes more than her as to be a social injustice. Her husband is an electrical engineer. Of course he's going to make more. Stuff like this ALL THE TIME. I wonder how she received a PhD.
