I did not enjoy this class or the teacher. If you are taking this course to learn about bio or to get a feel for it I do not suggest taking it with Dr. Hicks. I found him rude, and made me very uncomfortable as if I was stupid for taking the class with little knowledge about biology going in. Take the course with another prof if you can.

Dr. Hicks was the best prof I've had so far in my degree. I took SC1150 with him and it's the only class I've never skipped because he always kept it so interesting. He LOVES biology and because of that he is able to teach it so well, by telling lots of stories that are actually relevant to what we are learning! 10/10 would recommend.

Excellent Professor. Expects a lot of detail, but gives credit when its due. Super clear with the topics and knows his materia extremely well. Would recommend 10/10, you will not be let down!

You can tell he's really into what he teaches. He's crystal clear with what he expects. Not the easiest of markers but he is EXTREMELY helpful. This semester for the course we had a term paper for the course, and I really screwed up on some citing, but he clearly explained what I did wrong when marking it. Best prof ever.
