Comment:

I would avoid this class if you're not a theater major of some sort. She expects you to memorize extremely detailed facts on loosely connected material from uninteresting and lengthly readings. You have to practically memorize the every word in the text to know all of the answers. Really unnecessary if your major isn't related.

Comment:

Four quizzes, one play review, and one final exam. The quizzes were quick, so you definitely have to know your stuff. She expects you to watch the videos that are uploaded, so it definitely makes sense that she would test us on them. Take notes as you go through the pages. She graded the papers very nicely and the final was cake. Not easy!

This class was a big NO for me! She gives you TONS of things to read, which out really giving you any insight of what's going to be on the test out of 10 pages of reading . 20 questions for 20 mins which is so stupid to me! She only has the quizzes open a certain time (a day and a half) and can't make it up if it's missed. By far the WORST class!

WORST elective class EVER. DO NOT take her class if you need an A. Solely quiz based. Makes you read 30-40 pages per week along with 10 articles. Quizzes are 15-20 questions each, and you have 10 minutes to complete. If you don't complete all 10 by the allotted time, you receive a ZERO. Theatre isn't that deep sis.

Currently an acting major freshman. All the other comments seem to shine the wrong light on Boyd. She is an amazing professor who has taught me so much in the span of one semester. She has so much insight and knowledge. Takes the class seriously as well as the benefit and growth of her students.

Online. Summer. Easy class. Love that all learning material is online - no textbook. You do have to go through the modules to learn the material, but it's a great class for those looking for more theatre knowledge. Very helpful professor. 8 modules, 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 paper. Required to see 2 live performances. Would take again!

I agree - totally fake! I had her for Acting and she uses unprofessional methods. She tries to find out personal stuff about you and uses it in class (supposedly to get you to act). The common word in the department is that you can't get a good grade unless she can get you to cry in acting class! Bad.

I am a musical theatre student...had her for acting II as a freshman. She has changed my world in terms of my acting... she is absolutely incredible. Almost impossible to get an A, but the experience you get out of her is worth every minute of your time. She'll scare you a little cuz you'll think she's weird....but it's only because she is GENIUS!!

Within the first week I thought I was going to kill this woman before midterms, but gradually found her very helpful and caring for her students. I learned a lot with her that I know will help me forever. Hard as hell on her students, but only to bring out the best in their performance ability.

Quizzes on every play and or presentation. The class is very enlightening. Debate is lively. Make sure to participate. Take notes to do well on quizzes. I loved this class it really expanded my views on other cultures. Good class, great teacher, wonderful presentional oppurtunity.

I loved this class! Lots of class debate and discussion. We read really compelling plays, and she is really cool. Gotta keep up though!
