His lectures are comprised 90% of historical examples of whatever topic you are supposed to be learning. Unfortunately none of that is on any graded material. It takes a person with highly developed attention skills to thrive in his class. Overall though, hes a nice guy, will help you if needed.

If he taught from the textbook that he made us buy, this would actually be an interesting class with a knowledgable guy. HOWEVER: He does not use the textbook ever. He insists that you read at least 30 articles and memorize them for exams. The homeworks are impossible to recieve a A on. As are exams. If you're not obessed w/ eco, you will FAIL.

Im glad hes tenured cuz this guy has lost his marbles. His lectures have nothing to do with the course work and he goes off on tangents frequently. Also let us out 5 mins after the bell literally every class. Oral presentations were easy A's as long as u dont get nervous and can speak clearly, i put mine together the night before.

I understand he is a very smart and knowledgeable, but he is a terrible teacher. Some people are just not meant to teach! Exams were extremely HARD. In all, if you like to be challenged take his class, if you are just trying to get by, run the other way!

I respect this man a lot. That doesn't mean I like him. Provide free slides... lectures something different from the slides... doesn't teach anything related to the exams... doesn't give you answers for previous examination he provides... and test you something that was never mentioned in class.. A DISASTER!

Never tought anything in class that was on the test. He definitely knows what he is talking about and is a very bright person, but he mumbles so much and has such a monotone voice, hes very hard to pay attention to. He talks way too much about stuff that has nothing to do with the class in any way.

It is sometimes hard to stay awake in his class, BUT he is a very smart guy who knows what he is talking about. He is not as approachable as some prof. are, but he will help you - if you need it. Overall, the class only requires work for HW & 2 exams.

Be nice to Dieffenbach - even though he teaches finance, he can't afford name brand potato chips (he eats the****ty generic ones) but... BUT... he's smart and helpful. Plus, his bitter attitude provides a funny dose of reality.
