He gives you a lot of work, but in the end you will know physics incredibly well. He is great to have as a professor and does a great job helping students when they are stuck on understanding physics. Aside from classwork, he is a fantastic person who can keep the class engaging and entertaining with a few side-lectures on science history.

He's a grand teacher however he does need to ease up in terms of difficulty. His tests will be a nuke to your grades. I like him he's just THAT difficult.

I have taken Davies for Phys 1111, 2211 & 2212 and Colq 2292. He is a tough professor, but if you are taking his Calculus-based courses, they will prepare you for engineering majors. Go to class, do the lab, go home, finish lab on own time, read book, do practice hw, watch videos, email him, and put EVERYTHING in your notebook neatly (for tests).gl

Hard teacher but I've learned more in his class than any other class before. He loves phyics and does a good job at getting other excited about it too. Get read to work... GOOD NEWS: curves all exams, top 3 test scores get averaged, and that average becomes the new 100, so if you the top scorer, you get above a 100! (sorry bout the comma storm)

Not the best professor I would definitely recommend taking this class at another school because he is the only phys 1111 professor for Gordon for the last 17 years. He will definitely have you stressed out. I have never rated a professor in my 4 years of being a college student for anything but I couldn't go without writing something for this guy!

I've now graduated with an engineering degree which required a solid understanding of physics. I can definitely say Davies was one of the best teachers I've taken and his tough course definitely prepared me for success later in higher level courses.

Students who really try hard tend to fall behind in this class for some reason; he is a very tough grader, and if you arrive at the correct answer but didn't do it the exact way he would of, or if you skipped one obvious step along the way, everything (including your answer) is marked wrong. All I do is study for physics and even that isn't enough!

Dr. Davies is a competent professor who is usually downtrodden due to his flipped classroom teaching style and primarily Socratic method of answering questions. In his class, you learn as much as you put your mind to learning, and as much as you ask about. If you don't do your homework, and don't study, you won't pass. You're in college now, kids.

Don't be fooled by the unprepared students on this forum. The rumors are true, Davies is tough and I can guarantee this will be one of the hardest classes you take at Gordon. but you will learn, and if you are willing to do the work, then you will receive the grade that you earn. You will sink or swim, Davies helps you all he can, but its up to you

Do not take this course with Dr. Davies unless you're ready to destroy your GPA. Extremely high volume of work, extremely fast pace. You will do more work in this one class than in all other classes combined.

Dr. Davies was a visiting professor at my college for a year, and we were so lucky to have him here! He's so smart, and everything he says is inspirational and makes you interested in the subject. He's also such a nice guy and cares so much about his students. One of my favorite classes this semester.

Dr. Davies class is definitely challenging. However, I managed to come out of his class with an A. If you do the work and study hard, you will get the grade you deserve. He is very open to questions and will help you if he sees you are really trying your best. You learn a lot in his class if you take it seriously and do the work.

Favorite quote after a week long discussion on circuits. " Does everyone understand how I got this? Good, because this wont be on the exam" Do not take! Period! His class is a waste of time, effort, and money. He is also proud of his rating on this website.

Do not take his class if your trying to boost up your GPA. He grades each students quizzes differently and unfairly if you compare answers. His quizzes are tough because he expects you to memorize everything verbatum. Don't be surprised if your studying for his colloquium classes more than your core classes. Thankfully dropped before midterm!

Dr. Davies has to be one of the worst professors at Gordon. All he really does is play on the computer and every 45 minutes asks how we are doing. When you ask him a question you can get one of two answers: one that is helpful and the other sarcastic and He only lectures from youtube videos. It is a shame he is the only physics professor at Gordon.

Not "the best" teacher, he wants you to work on these thick packets throughout class while he sits on Facebook. He doesn't lecture so your basically teaching yourself. I found my self confused a lot. Best of luck to anyone that has to take this class. By the way he's the only "Physics" teacher at Gordon!!!

Dr. Davies is a great teacher. If you study and actually try, then he is not all that bad. His quizes are somewhat hard, but his homework is very easy and he explains anything that is confusing.

He is the hardest teacher I've taken at Gordon. He is very cocky and does not explain the material well. You pretty much have to teach yourself and he lectures from Youtube videos which i dont know how a person is expected to learn, i highly suggest you do not take his class!

I took Dr. Davies twice. He's the best professor at the school. If you are interested in the way the world works, take him! You actually LEARN instead of simply memorizing. I worked for my B and made the highest grade in the class. Attend class, ask questions, and do assignments.

His teaching style is something you have to get use to early on and this class is very demanding, however you learn and retain an incredible amount of information. I recommend taking him just know you are going to have to work and work hard.
