Took this class in the fall of 2018 as a requirement for my minor. I changed my minor because of this professor. Took the class in person, but everything was done online. His recorded lectures were him reading, not teaching- complete waste of class time. I asked for help and got close to none. Material was all arrows, lines, etc. HORRIBLE CLASS!!

ONLY TAKE PHL 195 WITH WRENN IF YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. I've heard stories of non-phl majors taking this class bc they thought it would be easy, and that is not the case. For philosophy majors, you literally HAVE to take this class and it sucks. Dr. Wrenn is nice and helpful but this class tends to be difficult for most

don't take this class unless you absolutely have to. it is the most boring & useless, yet most time consuming class I've ever taken. my first B ever & I'm a senior. the way your grade is calculated is confusing and your grade can round down. the professor is nice but not very helpful or understanding. I wish I had taken anything else instead.

The class itself took a fair amount of work, but Prof. Wrenn conveyed the material very well in Tegrity lectures. The syllabus gives you a clear outlook to this class, and since it was all self-paced, I just followed his recommended deadlines. After every test, he sends an email with your grade which helps break the online class barrier.

I took this needing 1 more humanity class thinking that it would be a relatively light load and a GPA booster. That was definitely not the case. You basically have to learn an entirely new language of how to symbolize English. This class is not interesting at all and has absolutely zero real world application. Definitely would not take again.

Comment:
PHL106 is the Honors section of Deductive Logic. HARD CLASS. If it's not a requirement, there's much easier courses to take. Also, if you do take it, don't procrastinate. I did the entire course in the last 3.5 weeks and I don't recommend it. Class is much harder than expected.

Comment:
PHL106 is self paced and based on reading things Dr Wrenn has online, listening to his optional lectures, and then taking tests. The only grades are for tests, and the grading rubric is weird but very reasonable. He said that he has had people complete the course in less than 6 weeks, but I only worked during class and took the whole semester.

I took honors intro philosophy with him. Great guy, understanding and helpful. Attendance points allow free test retakes. This class is self paced, mostly self-taught and it's possible to finish in half the semester.

Comment:
I took 195 as an online class, but Wrenn is still very helpful, he usually responds to emails within an hour during the work week. The class grading is unique but very clear, you will know exactly the grade you will get before finals, and whether you are on pace to achieving your grade or not. Despite an online course, the work load can be heavy

Dr. Wrenn is extremely helpful. Not only is he there for you if you ask for help, he is also exceptionally good at making things easier to understandapproach. In my logic class I was having trouble approaching a certain type of problems; when I asked Dr. Wrenn for help he taught me a super easy method in about 10 minutes!

Dr. Wrenn is one of the most captivating college professors I have had, and I have been here three years. He really knows his stuff and tries very hard to ensure his students grasp each concept, which is an impressive feat considering the sheer amount and complexity of the material. Attend class and participate and you will do great.

Wrenn is a good professor and nice guy, but the course is self-paced so most of your help comes from TAs. I liked how you can work at your own pace, but if you're not disciplined that can hurt you. If you're thinking about law school this is a good course to take to practice logic (which is a section of the LSAT).

The class is for the most part self taught. However, there are plenty of TAs to help if you have a problem. Dr. Wrenn is super nice, and when he helps you he explains things extremely well. It is an easy class if you just show up.

If you're disciplined enough to finish sentential logic inside the first month of class, you're in good shape for an A+. No midterms or final exams. Unless you want a print version for future reference, I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook since all the reading material and quizzes are online.

I refuse to believe this guy has made it out of his mom's basement and off the World of Warcraft account. I averaged an A on all assigned tests, but managed to lose two letter grades to his retarded attendance policy and quizzes. I would avoid him b/c he is like the PC guy from the mac/pc ads, but if you have to have PHL hours, there are worse guys.
