David Lilly is a character. He's so funny and presents the material effectively. He doesn't have an attendance policy but it'll definitely be hard to pass without notes from class since his powerpoints don't have the content. There's some 2-4 page papers and 3 blue book exams that he gives a series of possible questions beforehand.

If you skip class you miss everything because we do not have a textbook for this class. You will write about 5 front/back pages every class, but his lectures are funny and keep you interested. He is a really tough grader and cares more about passive voice and tense shifts than the history.

I have never had to work so hard in my life for a B in his class. I never missed a lecture, turned in all the assignments, participated in class, and earned a final grade of B. If you want an A, look somewhere else.

Very hard class. 3 blue book exams, map quizzes, and papers. Hard grader. Literally 70+ pages of notes to study per blue book exam. Class is the same everyday. Clicker questions are bonus. I don't recommend you to take the class. He's a cool person but the class is absurd. It's endless pages of notes to study w/ no guide on what exactly to study.

Dr. Lilly knows a lot about history but sometimes his class can be very boring, as almost all it entails is notes. I personally think he is a good teacher and nice person but others do not. His class is very hard and his tests are pretty complicated. HE GRADES PAPERS EXTREMELY HARD! If you do the work you should be fine but it's a hard class

Worst professor I have ever had. His tests are absolutely impossible and all blue book. The only reason I passed this class is because I stayed up for two nights straight and memorized every detail of the hundreds of pages of notes I had taken during his class. He didn't help when I asked him for help in the course. Do not take Lilly!

Dr. Lilly is a great teacher. With a subject matter like history I think you need an energetic funny person to teach it, and he's definitely funny. Also he doesn't require I giant txt book, just his notes and a couple small novels.

Had him so World Civ II. Totally easy class. He lectures but is super clear and goes slow. He only gives you the information you need to know and doesn't over-complicate history. His tests are essays based off the notes, a book, and a movie.

yeah he definitly thinks he's funny, eventhough he's not. which makes it funny...? he lectures through the material so fast, its hard to keep up with the notes. he has pop quizes, which can be hard if you were too distracted by his sarcasm to pay attention to the actual lecture. does anyone else think he looks like tom green?

great history teacher. doesn't waste your time/money a crappy textbook that you'll never use except maybe as a doorstop. exams are straight from his notes and not weirdly hard. seems like a nice guy. i took him twice. take him !

Prof. Lilly is extremely knowledgable and makes learning about boring parts of history interesting and fun. He uses sarcasm to lighten the task of teaching. I really liked his class and wish all of my other professors were like him.
