Comment:
Proctor is such an awesome professor! There are essays basically every week but if you take good notes in class they are super easy to write. On the syllabus, there is a ridiculous amount of homework listed each night but I didn't do it once and I got an A. He is such a sweet guy and offers so much extra credit and ways to de-stress. A king!

Proctor absolutely lives up to the legend. It's abundantly clear that he deeply loves teaching and cares for his students. One of the kindest, most knowledgeable and approachable professors that I have had in my entire life. He could teach a class about paint drying and it would be good. Writing-heavy but ample feedback and opportunities to discuss

David Procter is one of the "must-take" professors at Tufts. His class is well organized and the grading is fair. He tells you what you should expect on tests and is very helpful during the extra help sessions. There are also many many many extra credit opportunities. Basically, as long as you try, you will learn a lot and get an A.

David Proctor was probably the best professor I've had at Tufts. His lectures are amazing, although he gets stuck in the rut on topics he adores, such as the Byzantine Empire, which made for lots of catching up to do later in the semester. 3-4 page papers assigned weekly are the only time you need to use the textbook. Lots of extra credit - Easy A.

You probably don't even have to bother looking up reviews; Proctor is simply the best. He is so clearly dedicated to students and gives amazing lectures. He gives plenty of extra credit and is flexible on due dates and exams. He just wants everyone to succeed and makes his class an enjoyable part of your semester rather than a stressful one.

Proctor is an angel. People take advantage of his generous exam times, plentiful extra credit and him going out of his way to meet in office hours (and often reward extra marks in going through exams with you). he is the best, take him if you can in your time at tufts.

Proctor really wants every single student to earn an A. Gives many extra credit opportunities, including movie night with free pizza and extra credit if you show up to most of the classes. If you listen to all of his lectures you should be able to skip most of the readings for the essays. Tests are extremely fair- he gives the prompts beforehand.

As a junior at Tufts, I had spent three years hearing about how amazing Proctor was and did not think he could live up to the hype. He did. He goes out of his way to make European history interesting and relevant, to make material accessible and to provide students with every opportunity to succeed & become better writers. Take Europe Since 1815!!

Professor Proctor is one of the best professors you will find at Tufts. He is incredibly caring and passionate and his class is not very difficult. He also offers tons of extra credit including showing up to his movie nights where he buys you pizza. Definitely worth taking a class with Proctor

Proctor classes are the easiest A's you will ever find. You don't even have to attend lecture to do well in the class. For the exams, you essentially just regurgitate Proctor's lecture notes, which he shares with you before the exam. On top of that, he gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities, like his movie nights.

I absolutely loved this class! I thought Proctor's lectures were incredible and the books he chooses are really interesting. There is definitely a lot of reading (300-500 pages per week) and class discussions and journals for each reading with 2 large papers and a final paper/project. Definitely a lot of work, but overall, it's worth it!

Amazing professor and person; I thoroughly enjoyed his Byzantine class. While there is a lot of reading, it's supplemental to the lectures (he's a good lecturer) and provides good sources to use in your homework or exam essays. He really gives you everything you need to get an A -- you just have to meet him halfway. Recitation is mandatory.

Taking a class with him was one of my highlights of freshman year. His lectures are interesting and extremely thorough and if your lecture notes are good enough you wont need more information for essays. His class was a lot of writing but it was graded fairly, even a bit leniently. I got extra credit for watching history movies and eating pizza.

Proctor is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares about his students and is passionate about teaching history. He and his TA's are available for outside help with papers and he has extra credit movies once a week at night. He gets sick bc' he spends so much time helping his students. He is very knowledgeable and is a great person.

Prof Proctor is the best prof that I have ever had. He is kind, caring, and always there for his students. He holds extensive office hours, offers essay feedback before papers are due, and records and gives in-person review sessions before exams. His lectures are intriguing and it is obvious that he is very passionate about his study of history.

Both Europes and Byzantines are dope and not hard, and good attendance visibly makes him happier. Most caring and student oriented professor at Tufts and puts in more hours and heart than any teacher ever. Fundamental to anyone's time at Tufts is one of his classes.
