So bad! Do not take her class! I didn't learn anything from her and I only got a good grade because one of my friends in the class already had taken a computer science class so he basically carried me through the course. Now I am playing catchup and it sucks like she is soooo bad. She just reads off powerpoints and doesn't explain anything.

No late work accepted. Was not very helpful outside of class but lenient when you need extra time. You are just one of the mass to this professor so don't expect them to really help you out with much. The section on ERD modeling was terrible and was focused on way to heavily.

A very average teacher, doesn't really explain things well. If you take her class you need to learn a lot outside of class and spend time tracing code. I am very passionate about computer science so spending time outside of class wasn't that big of a deal. If I didn't have a mind for it, this class would be a nightmare.

My original teacher for this course had to take leave so she replaced the previous about after the midterm. She was a very different teacher than who we had before and was expecting a lot more from my class than we were taught/known. If you can understand and differentiate the philosophies in class then you will probably be fine.

The beginning of this class is hard because she shoves all the material (philosophies) at you through labs and reading assignments in the textbook. You kind of teach yourself until the midterm paper, which she'll give extensive feedback on. That paper along with a presentation is the final.

I took her for LSP last year and for CS 208. She explaines problems clearly and made things seem easy. I'm not good at math but understood the material in this class. Got an A! Eveyn had a lot of patience. You need to go to class for LSP 121 to pass.

Awesome teacher. Accessible outside of class. Caring. Makes the most difficult concepts easy to understand. Patient.

I took Prof. Lulis' "Ethics in Technology" class for a Computer Language credit and to be completely honest I regret it. She clearly knows what she's talking about, but she does not seem to be able to transfer that to students, and most of my class left each day confused. The syllabus was seven pages long and useless. Not recommended as a teacher.

Her paper was the longest I have written so far in college. I've taken multiple English courses and none required such an extensive paper. This is a CSC course that mostly CS students are taking, she should consider that when making her assignments and not us deliverables like we are philosophy grad students.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS PLEASE. The grading is completely inconsistent. GRADING IS SO STRICT, I AM NOT A COMPUTER-SCIENCE MAJOR AND SHE KNOWS THAT HALF THE CLASS IS NOT. Way too much work. Unrealistic. Please don't take this class. Never hated a class at DePaul but wow, this class is awful.

I probably shouldn't be complaining about a teacher who gave me a B, but after the final project I had to say something. Her grading methods are wildly inconsistent, she gets snippy if you have a question about something thats already in the syllabus, and she won't let you open a computer in class EVEN IF YOUR TEXTBOOK IS ON IT

Professor Lulis was very fair and interesting to listen to. She really understands the field and is willing to help. I went to her several times and she had quick, helpful responses. The class isn't easy, but I learned a lot about the frameworks. Do the reading.

The first couple of weeks of this class is frustrating and intimidating. Once you actually get what she is looking for and understand the class, it'll be a least a month in. After that its a lot of weekly assignments, weekly labs, and participation. You'll definitely use the book for this class, its essential! Work hard, and you'll get an A or B

By the time you realize what she really wants you've dropped a letter grade. Assignment rubrics are unclear and she assumes you know what she wants. She doesn't really teach. Forces participation. No electronics in her class.

If I wrote this at the beginning of the course, my rating would have been lower because I was always a little confused. As the course went on, what she expected became more clear. She's a passionate teacher who cares about you having a system to evaluate ethical dilemmas in real life. I think I'll always have Kant and RuleAct util. in my head now.

The ethical frameworks were barely taught to us. We were expected to learn them all from a handout and example. We did not know what was expected and got docked points for our assignments for doing it wrong when she did not really teach us how to. All the assignments were repetitive. She seems lazy to teach and very unorganized

She's a decent teacher teaching a dry subject. Evelyn knows her subject, and does her best to foster interest in her students. She is a reasonable grader, and tends to be down to earth about class expectations. Not a bad choice if you need to knock out your ethics classes.

I don't really know why everyone is complaining about her. I don't care about technology, ethics, or what the course is about, but I got an A on all my assignments. The labs are easy A's, just copy paste from text book and cite. She was super nice to me, and quickly responded to emails. I didn't participate and still got an A. It's not hard.

Comment:
Professor Lulis is just okay, she definitley seems very very open and respectful to students needs and what they want in a class. She always asks opinions and has you take a survey in the beginning of the course about what you expect out of a class/teacher. The class seems repetitive however and the labs are tedious. Grading is strange. No midterm.
