Imagine showing students a proof for a derivative before showing them what a derivative was. Because that's a thing that happened. Worst professor I've ever taken, and I truly mean that. Granted, she is accessible outside of class, but that's not much when she teaches you a concept and throws the hardest curveballs on exams.

Comment:

Dr. Kaplan knows what she is talking about. There aren't really any grades aside from quizzes and tests, but she is willing to work with you outside of class to help you study or understand concepts better. She is very caring and wants everyone to get a good grade in the course.

She is someone extremely hard to communicate with. She does not care about you as an individual. She is not flexible or understanding at all. Some assignments she required students to do are very time-consuming and pointless. She did not update grades at timely manner, and she did not offer detailed report of the grading.

The content itself isn't difficult if it weren't for her inability to accommodate different learning styles. She would use vague and abstract mathematical theories to explain something like multiplication. Do everything on your own time and DO NOT DEPEND ON HER. She makes a lot of mistakes in grading so always check her work.

She is very unorganized and contradictory. Will make mistakes herself but expects perfection from students. Group work heavy. Everything is taught as an abstract/theory in which the student has to figure out. Personally, didn't find her style very effective . Honestly, not worth the stress; take a different honors course

I've never gotten so much stress from one class... and to think it was the class I was most excited for because the class sounded interesting. She assumes we read her mind or something because she'll give a very vague rubric and she'll expect you to know what exactly she wants. The tests were horrible even though the work in class was so easy.

Dr. Kaplan was very unorganized, often struggled to explain concepts, and refused to answer questions. Even though the material was not too difficult, she was a tough grader and the grading criteria was often unclear. Grades primarily consisted of large group projects and challenging exams. I would recommend taking another professor if possible.

She seems extremely nice at first, but is not clear about what she really wants. Confuses and messes up when explaining information which then confuses the students. Assigns homework and never collects it. Extremely tough grader and takes off points for anything. Try to get another teacher for this course. Class started with 30, ended with 9..

She is very condescending. they way she teaches is very confusing. make sure to have a tutor on the side.. you will need it. ALL tests are cumulative so make sure to know all material. most people in my class ended up dropping.

I took Honors Calc with Dr. Kaplan and had no problems with it. Quizzes every class/week. Class was boring and she teaches us like we're five, but she's a nice lady and her class isn't difficult. Make sure you have a thorough understanding of each topic and ask for help when needed. 3 tests, a final, 2 "projects", and homework.

I took Dr. Kaplan for a graduate level methods class. As a 6th year teacher, I found the class to be a waste of time. Class consisted of several activities that were not very useful for today's struggling high school student. She should probably teach high school again to better understand the needs of the teachers she is instructing.

Very dissapointed in this class. The material started out interesting, but turned into a lot of useless assignments and projects. Grading seemed completely random, no rubrics or outlines. Very unresponsive to questions especially about grading. She seems enthusiastic, but condescends a lot.

she is not bad, i just feel like her skills of teaching is for the kids. Sometimes, she explained very easy thing more complicated. I don't feel she gives chances for the students. took lots of points for small mistake on the test. overall math 105 is really easy, but just just not easy with her.

Dr. kaplan is an amazing math teacher, she makes everything seem interesting...and incorportates fun activities like games and what not into the curriculum... what more could you want?!?

Dr. Kaplan is the best math professor I have EVER had!! She makes the most difficult concepts easy to understand. She will make you do a lot of work, but it is worth it!
