Comment:

She is very passionate about what she does, but her lectures are pretty boring and tend to drag. She makes you take notes by hand and does not allow any phones/laptops at all during her class. The tests are all memorization, you have both a listening section and a writing section. The class wasn't that time consuming just put in the effort to study

Comment:

very difficult class if you don't study or take notes. Going to the review sessions before the tests helped a lot. Show up, take notes, and study for tests and the class becomes a lot easier.

Comment:

Hardest class I have ever taken. If you know nothing about classical music, nor care about it, do not take this class. Most tests are all written exams and you have to memorize every word if the word is not present on the test, you'll lose half a point if you miss the word by 1 letter. Her class is harder than learning a foreign language.

Comment:

I went into this class knowing nothing about music, but I enjoyed this class. Prof. Leblanc is very passionate about music, but just know that I had to study a lot for her tests. Luckily, she tells you everything you'll be tested over with her very descriptive study guide booklets. Overall, I did like this class and I learned a lot.

Comment:

Had to put in more work than expected because I knew 0 about music. Very passionate. LOTS of info on tests but she tells you exactly what will be asked. No phones or laptops (even tablets) allowed for notes. Strict on attendance and will call you out for sleeping! Only grades were several exams, final, and 2 concert essays, so STUDY!

Overall I really enjoyed the class and professor. You do need to put some work in, but I wouldn't say the tests were difficult if you knew your stuff. Mrs. Le Blanc is very passionate about music, and I would say she helped me find a passion of my own. I would love to take another class with her if my major wasn't so demanding- definitely recommend

unreasonably hard. mrs. Leblanc is very passionate and knowledgable, but has unrealistic expectations. I don't think that she gets that most of her students aren't music majors.

A super easy music class - she tells you exactly what will be on the tests, even if there's a decent amount of material. The first two tests don't have listening on them, so they're the easiest. Definitely go to her review sessions the day before the test - she basically tells you the exact questions.

An extremely easy class if you've been in any music before, the lectures are extremely important but you know exactly what will be on the tests. Overall she's really enthusiastic and makes the material interesting

Really passionate women. She really cares about the subject and forces you to learn the content to a degree. Overall one of my favorite courses in college, even though I dont have a music background. I would take again.

This class requires a bit more effort than I would have preferred, but overall it wasn't that bad. Leblanc is VERY passionate about music and she crams a lot of material on tests, but they get easier as the semester goes on. I would suggest taking a different course if you're just trying to get your Artistic Form gen ed out of the way.

Comment:

She is very passionate about classical music but she is a sweet lady honestly. You have to go to class and can't have any phones out, but class actually goes by pretty fast because you take notes the whole time. The tests are easy as long as you study and take good notes. You don't have to have a musical background at all, I didn't and I got an A.

Comment:

Good professor. Our semester there were 3 tests and a final, which were all pretty easy as long as you study. She doesn't let you have phones or laptops out in class, and it's a small class, so you actually have to pay attention. Also, she gave up to 5% extra credit on the final grade from a couple of extra credit essays throughout the semester.

I was really worried to take this class because I had heard that she was such a hard teacher. They may have stretched the truth by a lot. She is a wonderful teacher, really passionate about music. Tests are not bad, just study. Quizlet became my best friend in this class and it helped. NO PHONES & ATTENDANCE MATTERS.

Some students struggled in this class, but I'm not sure how. The material is very simple. Basic music stuff, a dozen songs, and a few composers. If you ask her she will help you. If you put in the slightest bit of effort (and come to class; her notes aren't online), it should be an easy A.

This was one of my hardest classes of my semester (which it shouldnt have been) but this teacher purposely makes her class hard. This is not a blow off by any means (other MUNM 1113 teachers make it one) she makes you work way to hard in this class. Test are extremely difficult, no m/c. She is very strict about phones and attendance. Feels like HS.

She was honestly one of the sweetest professors I have ever had. She has a strict phone and attendance policy, but it's actually for the BEST. You pay attention more and are more involved. She can be strict, but she's passionate. There are a lot of notes to take, but that's college for ya. I wasn't a fan of classical music until her class.

I dont think she understands that this is a NON MUSIC MAJOR elective. The amount of notes she makes you memorize for the tests are insane. Every test is all fill in the blank with a listening section. Also if you have no music background she tends to call on you more during class. Also her classes are really boring but you must go to class.

Comment:

She's really passinate about her subject, and she is willing to help you outside of class if you're willing to learn. She doesn't mind interrupting her lecture to answer questions, and she doesn't like phones or laptops, so bring a pencil and paper. If you do the work like you are supposed to, it's an easy class, regardless of music background.

Comment:

Very smart professor who knows what she is talking about. She is very excited about classical music which can be a detriment to you if you are not. Can be a bit unapproachable and is a hard nose about attendance. This class requires a lot of outside study and you have to be able to attend concerts and write about them.
