Comment:

Jane made me actually enjoy biology, and that is saying something. If you attend the lectures, take notes, and try to learn it as you go, it's really not that difficult and you shouldn't need to read the book too much. However, you have to have the book for lab. She tries to relate bio to everyday life things and keeps it interesting.

Loved Prof Beers! If you do the learning outcomes and study them you will do well in the class. I never read the textbook assignments but textbook is needed for lab. Labs can be long and overwhelming, but if you stay a few minutes after she will help you- I never made less than 100 on any lab. She did a good job of integrating faith and science.

The tests can kick your butt. Btw the "study guides" aren't really guides but a list of everything gone over. If you study the power points and take notes you should be fine. Lab points and all the pounds of homework can help you recover from a bad test, so just keep up with it. Don't skip or you're screwed.

Prof. Beers is wonderful!! She really cares for all students especially the ones that are struggling. Make sure you stay on top of your reading and come to class prepared. This is a difficult class if you don't have a strong bio background, but the lectures are phenomenal!!! Love her!

Jane Beers was the best professor I've ever had. She doesn't just teach her students; she actively participates in their lives. A week before finals, a classmate's fiance passed away, and Professor Beers broke the news to our class with tears in her eyes. She helps every struggling student. I would give anything to take this class again.

Loved this class! She moves at a fast pace so taking notes in the class may not be necessary (the power points are put on Blackboard). One of the best teachers I have ever had. She is understanding and gives fair grades. It is not the easiest class so be prepared for work. But, it is worth it!

Amazing! This professor is the finest that JBU has to offer. She WILL make you work, but she is willing to help you. If you are willing to put forth effort, you will do fine. I found in this class that her notes are the key; I did read a fair bit in the book, but I found her online power points useless. Take her if at all possible, she is great

Mrs. Beers is pretty freakin' cool. The difficulty is a little above average but only because she makes you put thought into it, which is a good thing. She gave us facts and taught us how to examine ideas for ourself instead of just giving us her opinions. Excellent prof, would highly recommend.

Great great professor!! She really explains herself, my one day a week in lab with her made up for two days a week in lecture, where I learned nothing! She does great at explaining the big picture and I HIGHLY recommend her!
