He is tough and don't even think about being late or missing one class. But he is indeed a great man to work with! He is inspiring, encouraging if you did your work and take it seriously. The class is intense but worth it.

Comment:

He has a rough exterior, especially at first with the vispro silkscreening, but this is because he wants students in the class to be really dedicated. Silk screening is an intense medium, and John is an intense professor - but an incredibly intelligent one. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, that's why he's there! Not an easy art class.

He is your toughest critic and your biggest fan. Although most have a hard time getting past the rough exterior he is the reason to take classes at Oberlin. One of the professors that really changed my life. If you want to learn - really learn-take nature of the abstract but be prepared for a bad grade or NO SLEEP on Sunday Nights.

Passionate about teaching, but not a nice guy. He tried to kick me out of the class for being a few minutes late the first day (I got lost) despite the fact that I was already registered. He was so nasty about my lateness that I was actually moved to tears.

Adv individual projects. he is amazing. He invites students to his house where he has original warhols etc. Also the only real artist in the school. Also, great english accent. Not for the faint of heart, however.

This guy is amazing!.. Grouchy at times, but that's nothing if you take into account his highly intelligent and hiper-creative mind. The class is pretty intense, be ready to make your brain work. And he is fun!

People who think JP isn't helpful probably didn't take the time to approach him. For a project, I told JP my ideas and how $ deterred me from going through with them. JP ended up giving me a bulk of the supplies I needed. If anything, JP definitely taught me not to let $ get in the way of my visions
