I don't think he knows this, but students can see whether or not he views our submissions on brightspace. He gave out final grades without viewing FIVE of my submissions, including my final paper! He isn't grading fairly at all if he isn't reading our work! His class "lectures" are composed of him ranting out his personal life. No teaching!

Currently taking Prison Literature with this professor. The amount of reading is INSANITY. He is a fabulous teacher in person but he talks and moves fast on subjects. I am slightly terrified of him because of his intensity and passion for the subject. Overall decent class.

Class is kind of weird, class is mainly meditation and then journal writing and then discussion. The professor is kind of rude at times but overall only write 3 papers and read 3 books. Easy A

Most of what we did was in the classroom. From activities to discussions about the readings. It was a good balance between lecture and discussion, so participate and speak your mind as much as possible. Readings are very raw and up to interpretation, I really liked them. He is very outspoken about his political ideology.

He didn't explain a project clearly and when I turned it in I gave me zero saying I didn't do it right. He is a easy grader but if u don't speak his language you will FAIL

He often goes off on rants. Talks a lot. Likes to seem like an open book to make his students feel comfortable. Talks a lot about his kids. Seems like he would be easier on you if you go to his office hours. Pretty annoyed he gave me a B+, he does not post grades on bright-space, so I am unsure why I did not get an A when I only got high grades

One of my favorite professors. Taught me a lot about meditation! Essays werent difficult at all, just sometimes time consuming if anything. He truly cares about students and makes the class interesting. He did lag to give our final grade, a day after grade submissions. However, wasnt really a problem for me if i could easily wait another day.

Be prepared to meditate in class, he provides advice to make it more comfortable for you. Class lectures are interesting, but he does go on rants often. Assignments consist of lots of writing. Grading criteria can be unclear. Cares for his students. Overall cool professor, but is a bit disorganized and lost assignments throughout the semester.

Such a nice professor but the class was really disorganized. Lots of meditation, writing, and professor talking. But, he doesn't use brightspace so you never really know what your grade was. I can honestly say I didn't learn anything new. He loses your papers, so be careful. But, pretty easy first year seminar class.

By far my least favorite class and professor at the university (and at any school I've attended). On the first day of class, he told us that we should drop because it would be less work from him and we won't learn anything new anyway. He stayed true to that promise. He acts easy but is a tough and untimely grader-turned in final grade a week late.

This professor is very nice. Hes really a cool guy who seems somewhat passionate about Chicanoism. As a teacher however, horrible. Literally no reading schedule. Exams are mindblowing and force you to bs. Seems like an easy professor on the surface but is not. Avoid this professor at all costs. If you don't speak his language you don't do well.

Really chill professor who actually wants us to learn about life and culture rather than just the material he has to cover. Funny guy, and his kids are super cute!

He' s a great guy academically and socially. He's really helpful. He gets back to your emails even when he's busy. I enjoyed class discussions and papers were thought provoking and right at expected level of grading. Also, I liked the readings, but he can tell when u don't read! But good man and professor!

As previously stated a very intelligent man who is very good looking. I think the fact that he is so intelligent makes him even more attractive. Oh and I guess I should also mention that he is very helpful and understanding in regards to class. Take him, you wont regret it.

He puts a lot of emphasis on participation in class! Class discussions were great. It was a very different (but fun!) class. He's very funny and intelligent, but his essay prompts are vague, and he's a hard grader. Going to office hours is important, too. Overall, he's just a brilliant man.

These ratings are too funny, he is a wonderful professor very true. Easy on the eye, true. But more important of all he totally cares about his students and even helps students that are not his own. Juan is pretty awesome!

I agree with the good looking professor thing. It was a bit of a distraction, I kept daydreaming during class. What a crush I had on this professor :( He was totally professional and extremely helpful. I would take ANY class taught by him ANY.
