When I first saw her I was super nervous. She actually really cares about her students and will do anything to pass them. I was terrified going into physic to begin with but let me tell you, she is not a person to come out to get you in any way. It is difficult to understand her but if you ask her questions she will answer them.

She is absolutely terrible, I've never had a professor who blatantly didn't know how to teach. She talks very softly at the board and straight out of the textbook and just gives problems to herself. Se gave out lecture powerpoints at the start, but just stopped. what would've been an easy class became a huge headache. Do not take please.

Easily the worst teacher I've ever had at Oneonta. Straight up speaks to the board all class, stopped providing review sheets and has a confusing way of explaining things. Half the class stops attending because of her dragging lectures. The board ends up looking like a jumbled mess after every class, so there is no clarity at all. This class, a L.

She is a brilliant Professor! She really cares about Her Students doing well in Her class. This is not an easy class... but... the key to doing well is to: read the lecture notes and do the review sheets/practice questions before every exam.

Teaches verbatim out of the textbook, never completely explains problems, does half of an example problem then stops, sometimes gets problems wrong then just gives up, doesnt actually teach just restates whats in the textbook, be ready to teach yourself, ENGR214 with her is fine because the class is pretty easy, very easy grader

Only 1/4 of the class actually attends lecture on any given day because she talks so quietly facing the board and it's just a complete drag. You don't have to go often just pop in once a week to see what's going on. Do the review sheets and the tests will be okay. 3 tests (mult. choice), a few quizzes, cumulative final, (she forgot to give us hw?)

Yes, her lectures are so boring and half the time students wont be there unless theres a quiz or test. You can easily pass and get a good grade without attending class. Gives review sheets and thats all you need. People hate on her teaching, but its an easy class.

I have had her for optics, statics, mechanics, and now strength of materials. She was an amazing teacher for optics and statics but terrible for mechanics and SOM. I legit only new a question or two on the SOM exams. You are guarenteed a "B" at least. Lectures are very boring and confusing.

She gives boring lectures and how she teaches can be very confusing. I learned more in the lab. Also don't expect to get your tests or homework back. She will let you go over them with her but you can't study off of them.

Statics was a very fascinating class. People need to stop bashing Mahanta. She is really not that bad. Make an effort and she will reward you. 3 Exams, a few quizzes, and a Final. Looking at getting an A.

Goes over same probems multiple times during the class period, focuses on same equations but vaguely explains them. Assigns homework from textbook,but you don't go over it.Gives equations on quizzes/tests but that doesn't always help... Basically you have to teach yourself everything from the textbook, or go to drop in tutoring

I enjoyed the class, Dr. Mahanta provided us with many examples but i didn't like that she only stuck to the easy problems from the book. she also gave vague explanations on how to do them. She was helpful when I came to her for guidance but the textbook did not help at all! you really just need to study with peers, or review problems with her

Painfully bad class. Literally the worst I have ever taken in my life. No perceivable flow to the course. Lecture and lab did not line up. I did fine in the class but learned nothing.

Dr. Mahanta is not really that bad. I found her to be one of my favorite physics professors (I am a physics major). She grades really easy. The only complaint I have about Dr. Mahanta is that she gives us problems in class but doesn't always go over them with us. She is not as bad as people on here make her out to be!!

Aggrivating. Even when you do put effort in, it's useless because she expects you to understand concepts that she doesn't teach. she managed to turn me from loving physics, to hating it. horrible teacher.

Definitely the worst professor I've ever had since being a student at Oneonta. She talks at the board, doesn't use slides, and even accuses her students of not putting enough effort into the class. She doesn't curve as much as people say she does (only 5%). I have to retake what should have been an easy class because she is so bad at teaching.
